… Ogunlewe Aims to Make Kosofe One of Nigeria’s Top 5 Local Governments

Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe, Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, has reaffirmed his commitment to community-driven Governance, outlining ambitious plans for the upcoming year.
He emphasized the importance of inclusive decision-making, highlighting the role of Community Development Associations (CDAs), market women, residents, Youths, Artisans and transport workers in shaping the Local Government’s budget.
Earlier today, 1st of November, at the stakeholders’ meeting, Ogunlewe noted that his administration has taken a grassroots approach to governance. “We wrote personal letters to 140 CDAs, seeking their input on community needs, and I visited each CDA to assess their requirements,” he explained.
He stressed that community involvement is crucial to effective governance. “The Government should always be for the people. We are here to serve them,” Ogunlewe said.
He pointed to key achievements under his leadership, including:
– Construction of approximately 40 roads
– Procurement of eight transformers
– Plans for solar boreholes to enhance water supply etc.
Ogunlewe assured residents that his administration will continue to prioritize their needs. “Expect more from us. We are working towards making Kosofe one of Nigeria’s top five local Governments,” he promised.
He attributed his administration’s success to the collaborative efforts of stakeholders. “Every decision-making process has been informed by recommendations and opinions from this gathering,” Ogunlewe acknowledged.
The Vice Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Oluwole Sosanya, emphasized the importance of community involvement in shaping the 2025 budget. He stressed that residents are the pillars of the local government, and their input is crucial because they are best positioned to identify their needs.
Council Leader Hon. Idowu Oluloro emphasized the importance of this gathering, stating that it’s crucial to listen to the needs of the community as they prepare the budget.
He highlighted that the council is committed to addressing the community’s needs, having already made significant progress on projects proposed in the previous year’s budget. He expressed appreciation for the Chairman’s efforts, noting that around 80-90% of last year’s projects have been completed.
CDC Chairman, Mr. Segun Babatunde, praised Ogunlewe, saying, “In the history of Kosofe Local Government, there is no Local Government Chairman that has visited all the CDAs in Kosofe Local Government and asked for the needs of every CDA”.
Babatunde noted that Ogunlewe’s administration has been responsive to the community’s needs, with requests made by CDAs being incorporated into the budget. He highlighted some of the notable achievements, including the provision of transformers, construction of good roads, among others.
Alhaji Kehinde Bello, APC Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, has appealed to community leaders to cooperate with Council Chairman, Moyosore Ogunlewe.
Bello praised Ogunlewe’s efforts, saying, “He’s been doing great work, and this won’t be his last term in office.” He encouraged leaders to submit their community’s needs swiftly, ensuring alignment with the budget.
A concerned resident brought to the attention of the Chairman the alarming number of out-of-school children in the community, urging him to take action.
The resident commended Ogunlewe’s “giant strides” in the community, acknowledging the positive impact of his leadership.
The non-indigene community in Kosofe Local Government, comprising individuals from the South South, South East, and Northern regions, has lauded Chairman Moyosore Ogunlewe for his inclusive leadership style.
Representatives of the non-indigene community praised Ogunlewe’s impartial approach, stating that he has never been sentimental or tribalistic in his decision-making. “He carries us along in every area of opportunities,” they noted.
The group also commended Ogunlewe’s achievements in infrastructure development and other sectors, acknowledging the positive impact of his administration on the community.
