The Eweye of Isiu, Oba Olukayode David, has officially kicked off the 2024 Isiu Eweye Day celebrations, unveiling a custom-made Ankara fabric for the occasion, on Saturday 26th of October. Addressing the Press men and the gathering, Eweye of Isiu proudly highlighted Isiu’s pioneering spirit, being the first community in Ikorodu Division to initiate a Day celebration, setting a precedent for others to follow.

He acknowledged the community’s rich cultural heritage and the tireless efforts of their forefathers in bringing development to the area, long before Government recognition. These achievements include the construction of a community hall and a health center.

During his reign, Oba David noted significant advancements in the community, including the introduction of electricity, the delivery of a 40-bed hospital by Senator Abiru, and the establishment of a market courtesy of Jimi Benson. Last year’s Eweye Day celebration saw the commissioning of the market, and this year, Benson promised the commissioning of a 2km road directly opposite the palace.

The Council Chairman was commended for his outstanding contributions, particularly the construction of Legislative and Judiciary Buildings with a hall.

Otunba Folagbade Musa Banwo, Chairman of the Isiu Eweye Development Association (ISEDASS), Represented by Asiwaju Wale Ogunbela, Vice Chairman, Banwo expressed his deepest gratitude to everyone for their unwavering support and dedication to the community’s success.

He praised Oba Olukayode David, the Eweye of Isiu, for his leadership and vision, which have fostered unity and harmony, and enabled the community to come together in high spirits to celebrate their heritage.

Banwo emphasized ISEDASS’s commitment to creating a remarkable celebration that showcases their cultural pride, honors traditions, and builds lasting bonds. He invited all sons, daughters, and friends of Isiu to join in making this year’s celebration truly historic.

Dr. Haruna Balogun, Coordinating Vice Chairman of the Isiu Eweye Day Planning Committee, expressed excitement about the 2024 celebrations, stating that it’s been a long time coming.

Dr. Balogun noted that the success achieved last year will be surpassed this year, attributing it to a collective effort from the committee and sons and daughters of Isiu Kingdom.
