Hon. Salau Rukayat Ibukun (Ajibike) Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Ikorodu West LCDA celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child with a powerful speech at Majidun Senior Grammar School, emphasizing girls’ empowerment and education.

In her speech, Hon. Salau Rukayat (Ajibike) acknowledged the potential, achievements, and challenges faced by girls worldwide. She highlighted the need for urgent action to address obstacles such as gender-based violence, child marriage, limited access to education, and societal expectations.

However, She noted that many girls face obstacles, including gender-based violence, child marriage, limited education, and societal restrictions. She emphasized every girl’s right to: Education to pursue dreams, Safety from violence and harm, Equality and dignity, and Quality healthcare.

She urged girls to support one another, believe in themselves, and demand change. To the students, she said, “You are powerful, strong, capable, and deserving of love, respect, and opportunities. Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle or silence your voice.”

Addressing adults, Ajibike called for empowerment, listening, and belief in girls. “Together, we can create a world where every girl thrives,” she concluded.
