
The RYE Street Cycling Championship successfully concluded its 4th edition on Saturday, 28th of September, promoting social interaction, awareness about road infrastructure, and cycling as a sport for healthy living.
The annual tournament, hosted in four communities in Ikorodu, brought together talented cyclists competing for top honors. Olamilekan Aliu Dada, organizer and orator, emphasized the event’s objectives: “We aim to foster social interaction among youth, highlight the need for better road infrastructure, and promote cycling as a means to a healthier lifestyle.”
This year’s champions were:
1. Abbey Alani (1st Place)
2. Samod Odukoya (2nd Place and Fastest Lap Time winner)
3. Quadri Alataniyo (3rd Place)
Notably, Samod Odukoya, previous winner, secured the fastest lap time with an impressive record of 1 minute 50 seconds 22 milliseconds (01:50:22). Abbey Alani and Quadri Alataniyo, both residents of host community Anibaba, took top honors.
The RYE Street Cycling Championship has consistently engaged local youth, encouraging physical activity and community involvement. By highlighting the condition of local roads, the event aims to inspire infrastructure development.
