The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Itire-Ikate Branch, commemorated International Youth Day 2024 with a Business Empowerment Program themed “Elevate Your Business Through Digitalization: From Clicks to Progress.” The event aimed to empower youth with digital skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to thrive in today’s digital world.

Hon. Ahmed Apatira, Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, recognized for his outstanding contributions to youth development, earning him the induction as Grand Patron of the association and a Global Leadership Award. This prestigious honor acknowledges his tireless efforts in implementing youth development policies and programs aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Itire-Ikate LCDA.

Comrade Olafare Comfort, Deputy State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Lagos State Chapter, representing Engr. Adigun Ibrahim, State Chairman, encouraged youths to apply the knowledge gained from the event in their personal and professional lives. She stressed that youths should approach such programs with a mindset to learn and implement new skills, ensuring meaningful impact and growth.

A high-profile panel discussion took place, featuring esteemed experts such as Engr. Niyi Amir Gbodimowo “Gbodo”, Hon Tunde Fancy, Engr. Ajao Adejoke, Hon Olaoluwa Agbeyangi, Hon. Victor Olaleye, and Mr. Taiwo Opeoluwa, Executive Director of Africa Bridge Initiative. These thought leaders delved into the potential of digital platforms in bridging entrepreneurial gaps, emphasizing the crucial roles of innovative leadership, strategic partnerships between government and private sectors, and fostering opportunities for youth-led enterprises to thrive.

Comr. Oshodi John Ayodele, Coordinator NYCN Itire-Ikate Local Branch expressed gratitude to Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira, Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, for his unwavering support for the youth constituency. Ayodele also acknowledged Hon. Yetunde Jimba, Vice Chairman, for her steadfast dedication to the youth cause.

He recognized the contributions of Hon. Lanre Okunlola, House of Representatives Member for Surulere Federal Constituency 2, in ensuring youth participation in national progress. Ayodele also appreciated Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olamilekan, State Chairman of NYCN Lagos State Chapter, for his leadership and guidance.

He encouraged fellow youths to seize the opportunity to absorb knowledge, ask critical questions, and leverage innovative tools to turn their dreams into realities. He emphasized the significance of digitalization in transforming businesses and creating sustainable progress.
