According to Antonio Omowale Victor, CEO of Eko On Point Group, it has always been a resounding success, with significant progress made since its inception.
“This is our third year hosting this event, and we’re getting better year by year,” Victor said. “Our aim is to showcase the youth of Ipakodo, highlighting their talents in football, basketball, snooker, singing, and more. We want to demonstrate that Ipakodo welcomes all tribes and has a wealth of talent.”
He said the competition has yielded impressive results, with participants going on to represent the community nationally and internationally. Some notable achievements include:
– Players attending trials outside the community
– Representation at U19 Nigerian football team trials
– Upcoming signing of a player to a professional team
He urged Ipakodo youths to prioritize peace, positivity, and self-expression.
“My advice to the youth of Ipakodo is to choose peace, abstain from criminality, showcase your talents, and have a positive mindset,” he said. “Impact Nigeria positively and always be prayerful in everything you do.”
Hon. Adelani Okunade, Supervisor for Youth, represented Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, at the event. “This program unites our youth, promotes their talents, and showcases the stars among them,” Okunade said.
According to Okunade, the event aims to identify and nurture talented individuals, providing a platform for them to shine. “We have scouts identifying talented individuals to represent their teams. This Football competition encourages our youth to engage in productive activities, particularly sports,” he explained.
Okunade advised youths to avoid unproductive activities and focus on sports, emphasizing its potential to transform their lives. “As Supervisor for Youth, I urge our young people to prioritize sports and become meaningful contributors to society,” he said.
