On Friday, 27th September 2024, the people of Akaun and its environs benefited from a free medical outreach program organized by Ikorodu North LCDA at the newly constructed Primary Health Center in Akaun.

The event, which marked the assessment of the newly built facility, provided free medical checkups and essential medications to all attendees, further showcasing the council’s commitment to improving healthcare access for the local population.

Dignitaries present at the event included traditional leaders such as the Baale of Akanun Lasugbo and Chief Sesan Ogunleye Aleshinloye, who led other Baales from the area. Among them were Chief Mopelufa Wasiu Kara, Chief Adamo Bankole, Chief Mushafau from Gbaga Akinyemi, and Chief Kehinde Efunaike, the Olotu of Akanun Lasugbo. Also present were Alhaji Wahab Ganiu, Asiwaju of Akanun Lasugbo, and several other respected community leaders.

Leading the event was the Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Adeola Adebisi Banjọ, and in his company was the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ola Ameen Apanisile, and Prince Niyi Odugbesi, the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG). Hon. Basirat Babatunde, the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), and Supervisors for Works and Health were also in attendance. Councillors from Ikorodu North LCDA, including Hon. Niran Adeyemi, Hon. Sheriff Olakanmi, Hon. Abimbola Adaramola, and Hon. Baliqis Aderoju, were present, with the Council’s Medical Officer of Health (MOH), Engineer, and Heads of Units for Environment and Information lending their support.

In his keynote address, Builder Adeola Banjọ emphasized the importance of the Primary Health Center as a strategic intervention to bridge healthcare gaps in the community, noting that the facility would provide essential medical services to residents who had long faced challenges accessing healthcare. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to continually supporting the healthcare needs of the people through initiatives like the free medical outreach program.

Following the Chairman’s speech, Chief Sesan Ogunleye Aleshinloye, the Baale of Akanun Lasugbo, expressed his profound gratitude to the Chairman and his team for bringing such a vital initiative to their community. He thanked the council for their continued efforts in improving the well-being of Akaun residents and urged for more developmental projects in the area.

Comrade Babatunde Adekoya, Coordinator of the Joint Action Committee for 22 CDAs, spoke on behalf of the community development associations, praising the council’s leadership for its proactive stance on health and community development. He commended the Chairman for prioritizing healthcare and delivering impactful services that resonate with the needs of the people.

The medical outreach provided free medical checkups and distributed essential medications to all who attended, ensuring that the local population received much-needed healthcare services. The success of the event is a testament to the continued dedication of the Ikorodu North LCDA leadership under the guidance of Builder Adeola Banjọ, as they work to improve the quality of life for residents through accessible and essential healthcare services.
