…. Launches Odi-olowo/Ojuwoye cares for Aged, Widows, Physically Challenge, others.

In a bid to strengthen grassroots governance, the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA hosted a stakeholders’ engagement and leadership training program on 23rd of September, for community leaders, equipping them with essential skills to drive development and enhance community participation.
Hon. Rasaq Ajala, Executive Chairman of Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, emphasized the importance of democracy in his address.
He highlighted that democracy is centered around the people and acknowledged that his mandate is derived from the votes freely given to him by the community. He stressed the need for continuous engagement with the people to keep them informed about the council’s activities and plans.
Ajala emphasized the council’s commitment to ensuring that all members of the community, regardless of their economic status, benefit from the resources available. He reiterated the council’s responsibility to manage public funds transparently and ensure that everyone feels included and valued.
He stressed the importance of practicing what is preached and ensuring that the political philosophy of common good for common benefit is upheld.

He emphasized the importance of community ownership of projects and encouraged active participation from all stakeholders to ensure the success of the program.
Furthermore, He discussed the launch of the social intervention program, Odiolowo Ojuwoye Cares, which aims to support 3,000 beneficiaries from vulnerable groups within the community.
Ajala expressed his belief that the program will have a positive impact on the community and pave the way for future initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents.
“We involved every stakeholder, including CDAs, market associations, religious bodies, traditional worshippers, youth organizations, artisans, parent forums, physically challenged, and ethnic groups,” Ajala said. “Together, we’re working towards a common goal of promoting democracy and inclusive Governance.”
He expressed his hope that future leaders will continue to build upon the foundation laid by the current administration to ensure lasting benefits for the community.
Mobolaji Fanimokun emphasized the crucial role community development associations (CDAs) play in bridging the gap between local governance and community participation during a recent address.
Fanimokun stressed that CDAs are the building blocks of society, connecting government initiatives with community needs. He highlighted the importance of educating community members on governance principles, leadership, and effective communication.
“CDAs serve as the nucleus of society, comprising protons and electrons that hold everything together,” Fanimokun explained, drawing an analogy from atomic structure. “They are vital in ensuring that government programs align with community aspirations.”
Fanimokun encouraged CDAs to serve as links between Government and citizens, fostering synergy and inclusive decision-making. He emphasized that community members should understand how government works and their role in shaping local policies.
“The principles of leadership, Governance, and communication are essential for effective community development,” Fanimokun noted. “CDAs must impart this knowledge to their members and facilitate a seamless exchange of information between government and citizens.
Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon emphasized the importance of collaborative governance at a recent leadership training event. He described the initiative as a platform for local governments and stakeholders to come together and identify areas needing improvement.
Senator Solomon highlighted that effective governance is not solely the responsibility of those in government, but also requires active participation from the community. By working together, he emphasized that meaningful progress can be achieved.
Oba Sikrullahi Olamide, Oba Odiolowo, applauded the Chairman for organizing a valuable workshop, demonstrating exceptional leadership and concern for his people. He noted that not everyone in leadership thinks of such impactful initiatives.
In his remarks, Oba Olamide encouraged the Community Development Association (CDA) and the people of Odiolowo to take ownership of their community’s development. He emphasized that not every issue should be blamed on the Government, and that small, local problems can be solved through community effort.
Hon. Adeyemi Alli, Member of the House of Representatives for Mushin Constituency 1, praised the Chairman for prioritizing the people’s needs, recognizing that Community Development Associations (CDAs) are the closest to the community. He emphasized the importance of CDAs taking ownership of government projects in their areas.
Hon. Nureni Ayinde Akinsanya, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Mushin Constituency 1, called on community leaders to take ownership of major Government programs and projects in their areas. As leaders, they play a vital role in ensuring the success of these initiatives.
Otunba Adebayo Adekunle, Chairman of CDC Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, praised the community engagement initiative, emphasizing its significance at the local government level.
“We’ve been advocating for this kind of engagement at the state level, and now we’re bringing it to our local government,” Adekunle said. “Most of our members weren’t aware of the vital role CDAs play, making this training crucial.”
Adekunle commended the Chairman for his leadership and commitment to community development. “He’s raised the bar, and we appreciate his listening ear.”
