
In Commemoration of the World Clean up Day, Bariga LCDA under the leadership of Hon Alabi Kolade David commemorated the world clean up Day where residents and volunteers trooped out in numbers to clean up Ekinmogun Community.
Earlier, the Hon Commissioner of Environment; Mr Tokunbo Wahab had visited the community emphasising the importance of a clean and safe environment which translates and makes Ekinmogun the choicest location for this year’s celebration.
Under a coordinated partnership of the Supervisor for Environment; Otunba Adegboyega Adefuwa and Coordination of the SSA on Environment who double as Member Lagos State Youth Parliament Somolu Contituency 02; Hon Oguns Suliyat about 229 volunteers drawn from various partner organizations participated in the clean up. The volunteers were also joined by the member of the host community.
It is true that with vision and zeal, we can go far, but with a hand of collaboration and minds to drive home goals, we can perform wonders_
The team evacuated all the waste in the community, cleared up drainages and educated the community on the importance of maintaining a hygiene environment.
Joined by the SSA to the Governor on Special Duty; Hon Tobi Oladipo, the Speaker of the Lagos Youth Parliament;Rt Hon. Itunuoluwa Soniregun and other members of the parliament proceeded to Iyana Oworo Pedestrian Bridge where people with disabilities who clean up the bridge often were also recognized as the real Eko Eco Champions and were helped in cleaning for the day and provided cleaning materials.
Present at the Bariga clean up includes representatives of UNICEF – Bharat Kundra, Let’s do it Country Director; Olumide Coker, Let’s do it Project Director; Adeyinka Adeyanju, Mr Sèun Osikalu, Hon. Samuel Apata (Honorable representing Somolu Constituency 02 Lagos State House of Assembly), Hon. Doyin Banjo (Stakeholder and Political figure)
Hon. Bukola Adedeji (SLG), Otunba Adegboyega(Super for Environment)
Hon. Ewuosho (Councillor ward F)
Hon. Okeowo (Former Supervisor for the environment), Isokan CDAs led by Alhaji Bello,
Engr. Babatunde Fajembola (Ekimogun Street stakeholder), Mr Oloko (ward chairman)
Mr WASIU Afolabi(progressive youths of ward F) and all youths in ward F among others.
