Mayor Dele Oshinowo, Executive Chairman Agboyi-Ketu LCDA has disbursed N50 million to 1,000 vulnerable residents in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA today, 19th of September. The initiative aims to increase residents’ purchasing power, cushioning the effect of inflation, support petty traders, and bolstering the local economy.
Senator Tokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District applauded Mayor Dele Oshinowo, for the N50 million Welift Programme. He noted that this initiative provides financial grants to over 1,000 residents.
He acknowledged Oshinowo’s commitment to community welfare and timely response to residents’ needs, saying it reflects the party’s ideals.
Senator Tokunbo Abiru pledged N5 million to support the initiative, joining Hon. Dayo Bush’s N500,000 pledge. This support is crucial amid current economic challenges, Senator Tokunbo Abiru emphasized.
He expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic management and social intervention programs. These include Conditional Cash Transfer, Food Support Programme, and Student Loans, Senator Tokunbo Abiru noted.
Senator Tokunbo Abiru also acknowledged Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s social intervention programs, such as special food markets and scholarship programs. These initiatives demonstrate the state’s commitment to residents’ welfare.
He urged beneficiaries to utilize the grants effectively and encouraging other public office holders to prioritize people’s welfare. He praised Oshinowo’s leadership, citing his remarkable strides in physical infrastructure and empowerment programs.
Senator Tokunbo Abiru specifically highlighted Oshinowo’s achievements, including housing schemes, road construction, public school rehabilitation, and cash grants to petty traders. These accomplishments demonstrate his dedication to inclusivity.
He emphasized the importance of seamless implementation, ensuring beneficiaries receive payment alerts directly in their bank accounts. This process promotes financial inclusion and encourages digital literacy.
Senator Tokunbo Abiru reiterated his commitment to supporting residents through his own social support programs in the Lagos East Senatorial District. These initiatives will focus on MSMEs, market women, traders, farmers, and students.
In his speech, Mayor Dele Oshinowo reiterated the administration’s commitment to empowering residents, especially the most vulnerable.
Mayor Oshinowo said, “This is a testament to the vision we’ve had since 2018. Our goal has been clear: to raise, support, and empower the people of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, especially those who need it the most.” He emphasized that the initiative aims to provide financial assistance, dignity, empowerment, and opportunities to those in need.
According to Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the initiative’s primary objective is to make a positive impact on people’s lives. “We understood then, as we do now, that true progress is not only seen in bricks and mortar but also in the lives of those who carry the weight of building our local economy,” Mayor Dele Oshinowo added.
He explained that the selection process for beneficiaries involved critical community bodies, including the Community Development Association, Christian Association of Nigeria, Artisan League of Imams, unions, market leaders, and the World Garden Association. Mayor Dele Oshinowo ensured that assistance reached those who needed it most through this thorough process.
Mayor Dele Oshinowo highlighted his administration’s commitment to holistic development, including infrastructure advancement and human capital development. Recent projects include the commissioning of 170 housing units at Raymond Estate, launch of a co-economic ICT hub in partnership with SAIL, construction of new classrooms, and development of state-of-the-art public facilities like Commercial Park and Agboyi Town Football Pitch.
He noted that the initiative aligns with sustainable development goals, focusing on poverty reduction, quality education, sustainable cities, and economic growth. Mayor Dele Oshinowo thanked partners, including Momo Payment Service Bank, and the team behind the initiative.
Mayor Dele Oshinowo concluded, “We are not just giving; we are building, we are creating a community where opportunity, hope, and prosperity are shared among all.” He remains committed to improving the lives of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA residents.
Hon. Dayo Bush-Alebiosu Commends Mayor Dele Oshinowo’s Empowerment Initiative in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA
Hon. Dayo Bush-Alebiosu, Commisioner for Waterfront, Lagos State praised Mayor Dele Oshinowo for his people-oriented initiatives in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
He said “I am proud of Mayor Dele Oshinowo for doing this to the residents of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA,” Bush-Alebiosu said. “About a month ago, we were here in this LCDA to commission a housing estate. You’re doing absolutely well; your administration has been fantastic.”
Bush-Alebiosu also urged the beneficiaries of We Lift cash support initiative to utilize the funds wisely. He pledged an additional N500,000 to support the initiative, demonstrating his commitment to the community’s development.
Dr. Howard Edafe, Executive Director of Internal Audit at Momo Payment Service Bank (PSB), commended Mayor Dele Oshinowo, for this opportunity given to residents of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
Dr. Edafe expressed gratitude to Mayor Oshinowo for the opportunity to partner with the LCDA. He highlighted Momo PSB’s goal of promoting financial inclusion, making banking services easily accessible.
Dr. Edafe announced that the beneficiaries would receive N50,000 each, courtesy of the Executive Chairman. He demonstrated how Momo PSB’s mobile app enables easy banking, including personal and business accounts.
Dr. Edafe encouraged beneficiaries to utilize Momo PSB’s services to enhance their financial stability.
Otunba Yetunde Arobieke, the pioneer chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, commended Mayor Dele Oshinowo’s initiatives, noting that this is the third empowerment program she’s attended under his leadership.
She recalled a meeting with Asiwaju, where he advised the leadership to focus on empowering the people, alongside infrastructure development, as Human Development is also important.
