The Executive Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, led a team of officials on an inspection tour of the Labora-Owode cleared canal and surrounding communities on September 17, 2024. The entourage included Vice Chairman Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, Secretary to the Local Government Hon. Adewale Adebanjo, and all cabinet members.

During the tour, Hon. Olowa and his team discovered a barricade along the canal waterways, obstructing the free flow of water. This finding highlighted the need for residents to adhere to environmental laws and avoid practices that harm the ecosystem.

In a statement to the press, Hon. Olowa emphasized the importance of proper waste disposal and urged residents to sustain their cleanliness efforts. He commended residents who have maintained clean communities and encouraged them to continue their good work.

The Chairman assured residents that the state government would intervene promptly to address flooding issues in the council area. “Flooding will soon become a thing of the past,” he promised.

This inspection tour aligns with the Lagos State Government’s commitment to environmental sustainability, as demonstrated by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab’s recent inspection tours to identify areas affected by continuous rainfall.
