
As the new academic year commences, LiRA Foundation has once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering educational growth and civic engagement in Lagos State. The 5th Annual Welcome Back to School Initiative, held on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, at CMS Primary School Compound, Ilaje, Bariga, was a resounding success.
Over 2,500 pupils and students from Lagos benefited from the event, receiving thousands of essential school items and participating in inspirational experiences. The initiative went beyond material distribution, offering engaging activities, games, dances, edutainment, lectures, and motivational talks from esteemed guest speakers.
Notable speakers included Hephzibah Oluwafolafemi Atilola, a renowned teen motivation speaker and author, who shared insights from her book “Speak Up, Your Voice Will be Heard.” Nkwocha Princess, a talented young model, and Olori Oluwabukola Saliu, Wife of the Oba Oloworo of Oworo, also delivered impactful addresses.
The initiative’s success is attributed to divine guidance and the unwavering support of key stakeholders, particularly His Excellency Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. LiRA Foundation extends heartfelt gratitude to its dedicated team and esteemed guests whose presence enriched the event.
Convener of LiRA Foundation, Lijirin Ruth Ayomide, also the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Civic Engagement, emphasized the importance of education and community in empowering future leaders.
She highlighted the initiative’s significance, stating, “Today, we gather to celebrate the joy of learning and the power of community. Our Welcome Back to School Initiative is more than just a distribution of school items – it’s a declaration of hope and a commitment to empowering our future leaders.”
She encouraged beneficiaries to embrace the new academic year with enthusiasm and dedication, reminding them that education is the key to unlocking their dreams. Ayomide also expressed gratitude to partners and supporters, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to the shared vision of creating a brighter future for Lagos State.
She concluded with a call to action, urging everyone to continue inspiring, motivating, and empowering the youth to reach their full potential. Ayomide’s words resonated with the audience, leaving a lasting impact on the beneficiaries and attendees.
