In a bid to raise awareness and empower young individuals against domestic sexual violence, Builder Olusesan Daini, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, commemorated Purple Day with students of Zumratul Islamiyyah Senior Grammar School in Igbogbo kingdom.

The event, themed “#SGBV Not On My Watch,” aimed to educate and sensitize students on the dangers and signs of domestic and sexual violence. Daini emphasized the importance of creating a safe and nurturing environment for children, free from fear and abuse.

“As leaders and mentors, it is our duty to ensure that every child grows up in a safe and nurturing environment, free from fear and abuse,” Daini stated. “This year’s theme, ‘#SGBV Not On My Watch,’ is not just a slogan; it is a call to action for each of us to be vigilant and proactive in preventing violence in our communities.”

Daini encouraged the students to become ambassadors of peace and respect within their communities, highlighting the role of education in combatting violence. “You are the future leaders of our society, and it is imperative that you understand the power of your voice and actions in shaping a safer world,”he told the students.

The event concluded with a pledge by all participants to stand against domestic and sexual violence, echoing the sentiment of the day: “Not on my watch.” Builder Daini’s engagement with the students fostered a sense of community resilience and responsibility among the youth.

As the awareness event came to a close, students expressed their appreciation, stating they felt more empowered to speak out against violence. This Purple Day, Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA took a significant step towards creating a safer and more informed community, reminding everyone that the fight against domestic and sexual violence begins with education and awareness.
