In a bid to promote peaceful conflict resolution and community development, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ikorodu North Local Branch is urging young people in Ikorodu North LCDA to embrace constructive dialogue as a viable alternative to protest. Recognizing the energy and passion of youths, the branch aims to channel this enthusiasm into meaningful conversations that drive positive change, rather than resorting to protests that may lead to unrest.

Comr. Adewale Jackson Ayika, Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Ikorodu North LCDA, has appealed to youths in the area to embrace constructive dialogue rather than violence and destruction of properties amidst a planned protest.

Jackson, addressing the youths, acknowledged the economic difficulties and frustrations but warned that the current security atmosphere and political climate in the country make such gatherings risky and potentially vulnerable to hijacking by “evil doers and faceless people.”

He reminded the youths that Lagos State is still recovering from the aftermath of the Endsars protest, which resulted in loss of lives and properties.

Instead, Ayika urged the youths to come up with proposals that will bring about developmental solutions to the hardship facing the nation, emphasizing that the change they seek begins with each individual.

The NYCN Ikorodu North Local Branch, under the leadership of Comr. Adewale Jackson, has announced its disengagement from the forthcoming youth protest and advised the youths to do the same, promising to continue supporting the Government to bring about innovations and implementation of issues affecting youths and their development.

Comr. Jackson also assured that the council has outlined several impactful projects and programs aimed at positively influencing the lives of youths in the area and urged them to take advantage of these opportunities while constantly passing on their concerns to the appropriate quarters for solutions and implementation by the government.

Comrade Lamina, Deputy Coordinator of NYCN Ikorodu North Local Branch, He emphasized that NYCN is working to promote peaceful resolution of issues.

Lamina acknowledged the efforts of Government officials at all levels to improve lives and urged youths to support them. He warned against allowing unscrupulous elements to undermine progress and encouraged patience, citing the experiences of other countries.

Comrade Raji Oluwaseye implore youths in Ikorodu North to avoid violent protests, instead promoting peaceful engagement through the NYCN. He highlighted efforts to establish a youth desk for grievances and encouraged collaboration with the Government.

Comrade Mariam urged Nigerian youths to choose constructive dialogue over protest, considering the country’s fragile state and the new Government’s efforts to address past issues. She calls for patience and support, acknowledging the Government’s challenges and encouraging dialogue to achieve understanding and progress.

Comrade Abdullah Mazeedah, Social Secretary of NYCN Ikorodu North Local Branch, defines protest as “public disapproval of an idea or action” but notes that it’s often misunderstood as riots. She urged the youth of Ikorodu North to opt for peaceful dialogue instead of protest to address their grievances, promoting constructive resolution of conflicts and avoiding destructive riots.

Comrade Ismail Sadiq cautions youths against violent protests, citing the devastating effects of the 2020 End SARS protest on Lagos State’s economy and public property. He advocates for peaceful dialogue and constructive engagement as a more effective means of driving positive change.
