In a grand ceremony, Lion (Dr.) Folasade Shotomide PMJF, NLCF, was officially installed as the District Governor of 404-A3 Nigeria for the 2024/2025 Lions Year. The event took place on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at The Summit, 5 NERDC Road, Agidingbi off Asabi Cole Street, CBD, Alausa, Lagos.

Multiple Council Chairperson Lion Anogwi Anyanwu PMJF, NLCF, FCA, HCIB, officiated the installation ceremony, which was attended by prominent Lions members and guests. Lion Shakiru Adeniyi Balogun PMJF, NLCF, Immediate Past District Governor, handed over the medallion of office and other documents to Dr. Folasade Shotomide, marking the official transfer of leadership.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Shotomide expressed her gratitude to the members for entrusting her with the position and pledged to lead by example, upholding the highest standards of service and professionalism.

Dr. Shotomide outlined her vision for the district, focusing on five of Lions International’s global causes: Hunger, Environment, Youth, Humanitarian, and Diabetes. She announced the following projects:

– 100 Cataract Surgeries for indigents (N8,500,000)
– 100 bags of rice to be shared with indigents (N7,000,000)
– Back-to-school initiative for 200 children (N3,620,000)
– Basic Health Insurance for 100 elderly people (N850,000)
– Youth Empowerment on IT for 100 youth (N20,000,000)
– Diabetes Screening for 1000 people (N1,500,000)
– White Cane for 100 blind individuals (N4,500,000)
– Training and lease of land for Aquaculture and Horticulture farming (N4,030,000)

Dr. Shotomide also announced the district’s signature project: acquiring a property for a secretariat, building and equipping it to international standards, with an additional funding requirement of N1,000,000,000.

She solicited support from members and partners to achieve these goals, with a fundraising and presentation ceremony to be held.

Dr. Shotomide emphasized the importance of mentoring new members, showcasing their talents, and developing their skills. She outlined responsibilities for Region Chairpersons, Zone Chairpersons, and Region Coordinators/Ambassadors, ensuring effective leadership and service delivery.
