Abdulmumin Edidi, Representative of the Lagos Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, has called on fellow youths to approach protests with caution and smart goals.

In a statement, Edidi quoted Che Guevara, saying “The first duty of a revolutionary is education.” He emphasized the importance of equipping oneself with necessary information and considering the potential effects of one’s actions.

Edidi acknowledged the current economic difficulties and the resulting anger and hunger among youths. However, he stressed that change begins with individual efforts and that protests should be approached as a project, not a destination.

He advocated for S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) protests to achieve gains without regrets. Edidi also emphasized the need for caution and specificity in demands, urging youths to say #NoToViolentProtest.

He concluded by emphasizing the power of unity and peaceful protest in building a greater Nigeria.
