
Ikorodu West LCDA and Lagos State Public Works engaged Stakeholders of Ipakodo, Police Post, Liberty junction, to the stakeholders meeting on the rehabilitation of Ebute Ipakodo road, police post, and Liberty by TOS Benson road.
Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Executive Chairman Ikorodu West LCDA, highlighted the difficulties of building new roads, noting that maintaining existing roads is more cheaper than constructing new ones.
According to the Chairman, “We are working on about 300 meters, and it’s a significant expense for the state. The Local Government also faces challenges in affording such projects.”
He expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Public Works for their assistance and mentioned that the project is expected to be completed within 30 days. He urged the community to cooperate during this period and not cause any disruptions.
The Chairman called on the community, especially the youth, to take ownership of protecting the road and ensuring the project’s success. He emphasized the youths’ role in safeguarding the contractors and stressed the importance of their full cooperation.
He commended the hardworking spirit of the Ipakodo youths, saying, “I live among you, and none of them have ever knocked on my door for one thing or the other. They are very hardworking youngsters.”
He emphasized the importance of individual responsibility in maintaining public infrastructure, saying, “If you see something, say something. Government can’t see everything.”
In conclusion, Hon. Kazeem appealed for patience from the community for the next 30 days, assuring that the rehabilitation will bring significant benefits to the area. “Once again, Ikorodu West LCDA and Lagos Public Works, we are pleading for your patience for the next 30 days that the rehabilitation will take place on the road.”
Oba Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo Kingdom, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem, for his effort in the bringing on board the Lagos State Public Works to rehabilitate the deplorable state of the road in the kingdom.
The monarch pleaded with the contractors to fulfill their promise of completing the project within the stipulated timeframe, ensuring that the road is restored to a good condition.
Furthermore, Oba Sotonwa urged the residents of Ipakodo Kingdom to cooperate fully with the contractors during the project period, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in achieving a successful outcome.
High Chief Oludayo Shotomiwa, the Olisa of Ipakodo Kingdom, commend the Chairman and the Lagos State Public Works for their efforts to rehabilitate the Ebute Ipakodo road.
Speaking at the stakeholders’ meeting, High Chief Shotomiwa commended the team lead of the Lagos Public Works for his outstanding performance in Ikorodu Division and Lagos at large, particularly on the road project. He urged residents to cooperate with the contractors during the 30-day project period.
Stakeholders present at the meeting raised concerns about the project’s completion, pleading that it not be abandoned midway. They expressed gratitude to the Chairman and Lagos State Public Works for their support and thoughtful gestures.
