
Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, the Executive Chairman Ikorodu West LCDA has addressed a viral video circulating on social media, which purportedly showed a disagreement between the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Legislative Arm.
The video had sparked concerns among residents and stakeholders, with some speculating about theft of files and internal conflicts within the Council.
However, Chairman Olanrewaju clarified that the video was from two years ago and had been taken out of context, stressing that there was no theft of files as alleged by propagandists. He explained that the incident was a normal misunderstanding among colleagues, which had since been amicably resolved. He pointed out that the Leader and Deputy Leader are now “best of friends” and that the issue had been put to rest.
The Chairman also highlighted the progress made in the Council, citing the progress on the story building, interlocking in the compound, and ongoing renovations. He contrasted the current state of the Council with the video, which showed a lack of interlocking and an unfinished building. He urged the public to disregard false information and focus on the positive developments in Ikorodu West LCDA.
SKO announced that several projects would be commissioned in August or September, including two roads fully funded by the Local Government, and assured that the Council was committed to utilizing its allocation judiciously for the benefit of residents and the community.
He emphasized that despite limited resources, the Council had made significant strides in development, and was determined to continue delivering on its promises.
The Chairman reaffirmed his dedication to the wellbeing of residents and the betterment of Ikorodu West LCDA. He encouraged residents to support the Council’s efforts and to disregard false information spread by propagandists.
Dr. Kuku Abdulkabir, the President of 57, Public Affairs in Lagos State, addressed the recent viral video, emphasizing the need for professionalism in handling political matters. He highlighted the importance of democracy in constructing institutions to counter irrationality and promote societal well-being. After careful consideration with colleagues, it was concluded that the incident in question occurred 730 days ago and was merely a part of electioneering campaigns, lacking substantial evidence.
Dr. Kuku advised political leaders to be transparent and urged the media to uphold honesty and integrity in reporting.
Furthermore, Dr. Kuku emphasized the need to ignore distractions and not engage in unnecessary responses to every issue, as it may lead to unnecessary spread of misinformation.
He stressed the importance of allowing the government to focus on its duties without being bogged down by irrelevant controversies. Despite the chairman’s suggestion to respond to such matters in a democratic setting, he also advocated for a collective decision to ignore baseless claims and focus on the tasks at hand.
In conclusion, Dr. Kuku urged for unity and harmony within the administration, highlighting the need for public confidence in elected officials. He emphasized the importance of allowing time for clarity and maturity in handling political matters, ensuring that the Government can concentrate on fulfilling its obligations to the people.
The Council Manager commended the Information officers for their efforts. She said It was clearly a past issue and it has been successfully resolved, highlighting the smooth operation and harmonious relationship within the council. Despite political challenges, the situation is being effectively managed.
Mr. Kehinde, part of the delegation, noted that the addressed matter had been resolved through administrative and political channels. The resurgence of the issue seems politically motivated, as it was previously considered resolved and settled.
Following the press briefing, the Chairman led a tour of ongoing projects at the Council Secretariat for the press.
