In a bid to address the issue of flooding caused by heavy rainfall, the Ibeju Lekki Local Government has embarked on a comprehensive canal clearing project. The Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, inspected the clearing of Kajola Phase 1 Canal, accompanied by members of his cabinet.
This project is part of a larger initiative to clear all major canals in the area, including Gbetu-Iwerekun, Shapati-Igbojia, Igando-Baba Adisa, Ogunfayo, Onisan, Labora, and Abule Oluwa, among others. The goal is to prevent flooding and ensure the free flow of water, thereby safeguarding the lives and properties of residents.
The local government’s proactive approach to addressing flooding is commendable, and this project is expected to bring relief to the community. The clearing of canals will not only prevent flooding but also help to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases and reduce the risk of accidents.
The community is urged to support this initiative and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the rainy season. With the government’s efforts and the community’s cooperation, Ibeju Lekki can look forward to a flood-free rainy season.
