
In response to calls regarding environmental challenges in Agbowa community, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, embarked on an assessment tour of the streets and areas facing the challenge especially those related blocked drainage channels causing erosion which have become a significant concern for residents in the community.
The inspection was prompted by reports of blocked drainage systems, which have led to severe erosion and the threat of flooding. The Chairman’s visit aimed to assess the severity of the situation firsthand and formulate an effective intervention plan.
After a thorough assessment of the affected areas, Akogun Anomo assured residents that the council would address the challenges promptly. He emphasized the commitment of the local government to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens by tackling environmental issues that pose a threat to their homes and daily lives.
Joining the Chairman on this crucial tour were Alh. Wasiu Dehinsilu, the Vice Chairman; Hon. Oguntimirin Olalekan, Councillor Ward E1; Mrs. Funmilayo Ikudaisi, APC Woman Leader, Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA; Hon. Saheed Abass, APC Chairman Ward E2; and Mr. Dada Saheed Omoboriowo, alongside several enthusiastic youths from the community.
In a statement released by Mr. Dada Saheed Omoboriowo on behalf of Agbowa community youths, there was a heartfelt appreciation extended to Chairman Anomo for his prompt response and proactive measures. The statement highlighted the Chairman’s swift action in averting what could have been a severe crisis on Wednesday, July 3rd, following an extended period of heavy rainfall.
“Mr. Chairman’s immediate attention to our environmental concerns is not only commendable but also reassuring,” the statement read. “We are grateful for his dedication and quick intervention, which have significantly reduced the risk of flooding in our community.”
Additionally, Chairman Anomo called on residents to adopt proper waste disposal practices and avoid actions that could lead to environmental degradation. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in maintaining a clean and safe environment, urging residents to be mindful of how their actions affect their surroundings.
“The community’s role in environmental management is crucial,” said Chairman Anomo. “By properly disposing of waste and avoiding practices that block drainage systems, we can collectively prevent issues like erosion and flooding. Let us work together to safeguard our environment.” He concluded.
