
The selection process for the winning entry of the #ONE NIGERIA/Unity Fabric competition has commenced, with over 100 entries received. First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who launched the initiative, expressed her excitement about the quality of the entries, which showcase the creative talent of Nigerian youth.
According to Senator Tinubu, the competition aims to promote unity and creativity, with a focus on supporting local textile manufacturers and stimulating the national economy. The winning design will be produced locally, creating jobs and injecting money into the economy.
The First Lady shared her experience with the “Governor for a Day” program, which encouraged participants to strive for excellence. She emphasized that the #ONE NIGERIA/Unity Fabric competition is not just about winning, but about promoting creativity and unity among Nigerians.
Fashion industry experts Hajia Abba Folawiyo and Banke Kuku, who are serving as judges for the competition, highlighted the criteria they will be looking for in the winning design, including creativity, excitement, and the ability to represent Nigeria’s diversity.
The #ONE NIGERIA/Unity Fabric competition, which ran from February to June, offers a prize money of N20m. The winner will be announced soon, and the design will be produced and promoted nationwide.
