Comrade Akintobi Lekan Sodiq, an experienced youth leader and former Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ikosi-Isheri Local Branch, has unveiled a comprehensive agenda for the empowerment and development of youths in Lagos-East Senatorial District.

Akintobi, who is seeking the position of Vice-Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Lagos-East Senatorial District, has outlined a comprehensive vision for youth development, which includes initiatives focused on empowerment, employment, environmental sustainability, health support, talent discovery, education, digital literacy, and social justice.

His agenda includes:

– Youth empowerment through collaboration with LSETF, Lagos and Federal Youth, and Agriculture Ministry for training, empowerment, and business loans.
– Youth employment through data capturing, job placement, and internship partnerships.
– Environmental sustainability through annual cleanup events, social media campaigns, and sensitization programs.
– Health support through walk against drug abuse, mental health awareness, and free medical checkups.
– Talent hunt and fun programs through innovation challenges, sports competitions, and academic contests.
– Education and digital literacy through mentorship, GCE and JAMB forms distribution, and digital literacy programs.
– Social justice through advocacy for gender equality, people living with disabilities, and anti-bullying campaigns.

Akintobi’s achievements as NYCN Ikosi-Isheri Local Branch Coordinator include:

– He handed over through an organized keenly contested election, attested to as one of its kind in the history of NYCN Local branches.

– Organizing Ikosi-Isheri World Cleanup Day, which emerged 3rd in the Lagos Cleanup Challenge.
– Convening NYCN Greater Kosofe ‘Walk Against Drug Abuse’ in partnership with NAFDAC, NDLEA, and Lagos State LASKADA.
– Organizing Ikosi-Isheri Sports Fiesta, featuring football, table tennis, athletics, and more.
– Facilitating training for 30 youth members on volunteering by Lagos State Volunteers Corps (LSVC).
– Facilitating incorporation of 50 youths in Federal Government’s TMAX 3-months IT training.
– Distributing free nose-masks to 1,000 voters during the 2020 INEC bye-elections.
– Organizing sensitization campaigns on proper handwashing techniques and hygiene during the COVID era.
– Partnering with NGOs for free food distribution to vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
