
The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Akogun Wale Raji Anomo earlier today flagged off the the JIGI ANOMO ALAFIA TAYO Initiative at the 6th Medical Mission organized since the inception of his administration. The program which was held at the LCDA Secretariat in Agbowa underscores the administration’s ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of its residents.
In his opening remarks, Akogun Wale Anomo emphasized the critical importance of regular health examinations. He noted that early detection of ailments significantly simplifies their management which is why his administration has given priority to consistent organization of medical missions just and support of severe conditions.
Introducing the JIGI ANOMO initiative, Anomo highlighted the irreplaceable value of good eyesight. He quoted the Yoruba saying, “Ojuloba ara” (the eyes are the king of the body), to stress the necessity of eye health. Recognizing this, the council partnered with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital to provide comprehensive eye care to her residents.
During the program, residents underwent various health examinations. Those diagnosed with eye conditions received medicated eyeglasses, while individuals with severe cases were referred for surgery, costs of which will be covered by the council.
The program which will also continue tomorrow, offers a range of free health services including eye screenings, distribution of medicated eyeglasses, eye treatments, and surgical care. Additionally, residents also had blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, body mass index assessments, diet and nutrition counseling, and tuberculosis screening with referrals as needed.
Chairman Anomo concluded by urging residents to adhere to the prescribed medication and follow doctors’ advice diligently.
Residents were full of gratitude and prayers for the Chairman for prioritizing their health acknowledging his dedication to their overall well-being.
The day 2 of the program will hold tomorrow at Ejinrin Community Primary Healthcare Centre, Opposite Police Station, Ejinrin from 9am to 4pm.
