Yesterday, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a commendable move, has written to the National Assembly urging them to amend the constitution, allowing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct Local Government Area (LGA) polls. This decisive action underscores the President’s commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s democratic trajectory, as promised during his election campaign, according to ART in a statement released by his media team.

Ayodeji Tinubu who is a staunch advocate for grassroots governance, has wholeheartedly applaud President Tinubu’s initiative. Empowering INEC to oversee LGA polls is a crucial step towards fostering transparent and inclusive elections at the grassroots level.”, saying It will undoubtedly enhance citizen participation and ensure that governance is truly representative of the people’s will.

He urge the National Assembly to thoroughly deliberate on this constitutional amendment, recognizing its potential to facilitate seamless and fair elections across the nation’s local governments.
