In a bid to enhance infrastructure, improved road connectivity and upgraded quality of living, early hours of yesterday, Akogun Wale Anomo the Executive Chairman Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA convened a stakeholders’ engagement meeting at Itoikin community towards the construction of Lagbeja-Agric Road in the  Community.

The road construction project spans a length of 418 meters and is 7.3 meters wide. Apart from being a major diversion aimed at decongesting traffic on the express, it is also a feeder road for many streets in the community. Funded entirely by Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, when completed, the Lagbeja-Agric Road will become a point of historical reference not only in Ward R1 but also in Itoikin Community as it is the first road construction to be carried out by the LCDA in Ward R1 since its establishment. It will also be the first tarred road in the whole of Itoikin Community.

During the meeting, it was disclosed that the contractor handling the construction, O&S Nig. Ltd., has a track record of excellence and professionalism. They have been given a timeline of six months for the completion of the project, which they promised to deliver excellently.

For durability, longevity, and the safety of residents, interlocking tiles have been chosen as preferred surface for the road, which will also have drainage channels on both sides.

Addressing the August gathering, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, espoused the essence of community engagement, especially at the grassroots level, and congratulated residents of the community for the  infrastructure while urging them to be cooperative with the contractors, ensure that all necessary support is given to their workers from inception to the completion of the project.

Furthermore, he called upon the contractor to create ample opportunities for employment, particularly targeting the vibrant and capable youth demography, thereby fostering socio-economic development and empowerment at the grassroots level.

Speaking with newsmen, Hon. Rasheed Raji, Chairmanship Candidate of the PDP in the last Local Government election, was full of praises for the Akogun Wale Raji Anomo led administration for his consistent and continuous efforts towards initiating transformative projects.

Mr. Jaiyesimi Ibraheem, Ward Chairman, APC Ward R1, also appreciated the Chairman, stating that this is the first time Ward R1 will be getting a road constructed by the LCDA in its almost 21 years of existence.
