The 2024 Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA Chairman’s Cup, kicked off today amidst fanfare and excitement. The tournament, aimed at promoting grassroots football and youth engagement, began with a thrilling match between Adegbose FC and Adeboruwa FC at the Eleja Primary School in Igbogbo.

In a closely contested encounter, Adeboruwa FC emerged victorious with a lone goal, securing an early lead in the tournament. The goal, celebrated fervently by fans, marked the beginning of what promises to be an action-packed series of matches.

During halftime, Builder Olusesan Daini took to the field to announce an array of exciting incentives to encourage participation and excellence in the tournament. Among the announced prizes, the youngest player of the tournament and the fair play player of the tournament will receive N50,000 each. The best goalkeeper, the highest goal scorer, and the most valuable player will each receive N100,000. Additionally, teams vying for top positions will also be generously rewarded, with the fourth-place team receiving N100,000, third-place N200,000, Naira, second-place N300,000 Naira, and the ultimate winners taking home a grand prize of N500,000 for Naira.

Ayomide Iremide of Adeboruwa FC was recognized as the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance against Adegbose FC and was awarded 25k Naira by Chairman Daini, amidst cheers from the crowd.

Builder Olusesan Daini reiterated his commitment to supporting youth engagement through sports, emphasizing the importance of nurturing local talent for community development. “The Chairman’s Cup is not just about football; it’s about empowering our youth and fostering unity within our communities,” stated Chairman Daini.

Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Mr. Obayomi, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support for the tournament and highlighted its potential to showcase the rich talent pool within Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA. “We are thrilled to see the enthusiasm and talent on display today, and we look forward to an exciting tournament ahead,” remarked Mr. Obayomi.
