
The fast developing Maya community came alive today as the creme de la creme of the society entered the community to witness the commissioning of 3 blocks of classrooms at African Bethel Primary School, Maya, Ikorodu.
The commissioning of the fully furnished block of classrooms was conducted by the MHR, Honourable babajimi Benson alongside Minister of state for youth, Honourable Ayo Wisdom, Honourable Toyin Gafar Bolowotan, Honourable Yomi Sopitan, Alhaji Jimoh Odidi, Vice Chairman, Honourable Ameen Olawale Apanishile, Secretary to the LG, Honourable Niyi Odugbesi, CDC Chairman, Honourable Niran Ogunbanwo and many others.
Asides the renovation of the building, Builder Deola Banjo provided new chairs and desks, white marker boards and stationeries for the benefit of the pupils as they prepare to resume next week.
The Chairman in his address said “When I got a message from Honourable Babajimi Benson notifying me of the condition of this school, within the next hour, I visited the school to get a first hand exposure of the situation of the building. I realized the urgency of the project and by the second day we began to pull down the roof in preparation for renovation so that our pupils can return to a more befitting environment when they resume next week”.
Honourable Babajimi Benson during his remark appreciates Builder Deola Banjo for being such a wonderful and listening Chairman who do not know a joke when it comes to providing infrastructure for the good people of his LCDA. He said – “I was joking with Banjoo about the renovation of the school and by the second day, I began to receive pictures of work ongoing in the school, I had to call him that, Banjoo, can’t we joke with you?”. For that reason, I am very appreciative of Banjoo for his steadfastness and the urgency with which he approached the project”.
The Honourable Minister of state for youths, Honourable Ayo Wisdom also thank the Chairman for the wonderful job he’s been doing noting that he spent most of his early days in Ikorodu so it feels good to be back home to witness such a laudable project.
The headteacher of the school, Alhaja Akewusola, praised Honourable Babajimi Benson and Builder Deola Banjo for being a worthy and listening leader.
Honourable Babajimi Benson in his usual character led other dignitaries to inspect the facilities provided for each of the classrooms which they certified satisfactory and fit-for- purpose as the pupils resume next week.
