
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the highly anticipated 2024 Oldies Appreciation Game held a press conference on Saturday, April 13th. The press conference served as a platform to announce details about the forthcoming game that is set to pay tribute to the legends in the community and Nigeria as a whole.
Prince Ogunlewe Ademola, the LOC chairman, spilled all the details during the press conference for the 2024 Oldies Appreciation Game. He mentioned that the main aim of the event is to celebrate and honor sports veterans while giving the working class a chance to unwind and get involved in physical activities.
He said The Amputee Football Federation of Nigeria will be putting on an exhibition game, showcasing their incredible skills and determination. And to add to the excitement, the Nigeria Supporters’ Club will be there to entertain the crowd with their awesome performances.
The event isn’t just about fun and games, though. Ogunlewe stressed the importance of promoting physical fitness and unity. They want to make this an annual tradition that has a positive impact on the lives of sports veterans who often face tough living conditions and health challenges.
To support the well-being of the community, Cute Medical Centre Igbogbo is sponsoring a medical outreach program during the event. They’ll be providing healthcare services to those in need. And that’s not all! In partnership with Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, food palliatives will also be shared to ensure everyone has access to nutritious meals.
Damilola Edward, the Head of the Children Department, shared some exciting news about the upcoming event. She mentioned that the participation fee for the event is 5k. This will provide an opportunity for children to unwind and mingle, as many families don’t have enough time for fun activities with their kids.
To ensure a fantastic experience, the organizers are bringing a wide variety of games for the children to enjoy. These include Chess, Scrabble, a Bouncing Castle, face painting, and many more. With such a range of activities, there will be something for every child to enjoy.
Jelili Ogunmuyiwa, a FIFA badge referee, shared some thrilling news about the highly anticipated event. According to Ogunmuyiwa, this year, attendees are required to wear the official jersey before entering the venue. The jersey will serve as a pass, ensuring smooth entry for all fans.
The event promises to be star-studded, with many ex-Super Eagles players in attendance. And guess what? They won’t just be there as spectators, but they’ll also be participating in the games.

Tolulope Faniyi, also revealed that this year’s event will feature an incredible lineup of entertainers; guest artistes and energetic hypemans to keep the crowd pumped up throughout the day.
