Today, the 6th of April 2024, marked a significant milestone for the residents of Ikorodu North LCDA as the community came together to participate in a noble cause – the Special Food Support Initiative for Vulnerable Households. Held at the Ikorodu North LCDA CDC hall inside the LASTMA yard, this initiative was a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Lagos State Government to uplift and support its citizens during challenging times.

The event, an offshoot of the Lagos State Government’s Aid Initiative, aimed to provide essential assistance to vulnerable households across all 57 local government areas within Lagos State. Under the leadership and support of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, the program exemplified the government’s dedication to ensuring that no citizen is left behind, especially in the face of food insecurity.

A total of one thousand households in Ikorodu North LCDA benefited from the distribution of 5kg bags of rice, a gesture that resonated deeply with the community. The occasion witnessed a remarkable turnout of beneficiaries from every corner of the LCDA, highlighting the pressing need for such interventions.

Leading the distribution efforts was the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Adéọlá Adebisi Banjọ, who personally oversaw the allocation of rice to beneficiaries. The distribution was meticulously organized, with 250 beneficiaries from Odogunyan ward, 150 from Agbala ward, 120 from Erikorodo ward, and 100 each from Isiu and Olorunda wards respectively receiving their share of the essential commodity.

Additionally, representatives from various community bodies and associations, including the Ikorodu North LCDA chapter of CAN, Islamic society, market men and women association, youth forum, and ethnic groups such as Hausa, Igbo, and Egede communities, were present to receive bags of rice for onward distribution to their vulnerable members.

Addressing the gathering before the distribution commenced, Builder Adéọlá Adebisi Banjọ reiterated the significance of the Lagos Aid Initiative in providing much-needed support to vulnerable households. He commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu for his visionary leadership and emphasized the government’s commitment to alleviating the challenges faced by Lagosians, particularly in times of inflation.

Expressing gratitude to Governor Sanwoolu for the initiative, Builder Adéọlá Adebisi Banjọ appealed to the people of Ikorodu North LCDA to remain patient as the government continues to explore additional measures to mitigate the impact of inflation and stabilize prices of essential commodities.

The event was graced by the presence of other dignitaries, including the Vice Chairman, Honourable Ameen Apanishile, the Leader of the House, Honourable Ayo Adekoya, and fellow legislators, who all took turns to address and encourage the beneficiaries of the special intervention program.
