
On Sunday, March 24th, 2024, Real Acts of Kindness (RAK) Development Foundation, a renowned NGO credited with numerous philanthropic outreaches, hosted the fourth edition of its annual Badagry Quran Recitation Competition, affirming its commitment to nurturing future leaders grounded in deep knowledge of the Quran and exemplary character.
Hosted by Alhaji Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development and pioneer of the foundation at Badagry Central Mosque, the event garnered attendance from esteemed Islamic scholars, including the Chief Imam of Badagry Division, Alhaji (Sheikh) Imam Abdulhakeem Akewusola.
The competition, renowned for its thoroughness and dedication to shaping model citizens, featured two categories: the junior and senior categories. In the junior category, Osolo Qarib clinched the first position, followed by Ilyas Firdaus in second place and Saliu Khadija in third place. In the senior category, Muhammad Tayibah emerged victorious, with Muhammad Anas securing second place and Yayhya Mubarak claiming third place. Each winner received cash prizes, with the first position awarded N100,000, the second position N70,000, and the third position N50,000.
Addressing the audience, Alhaji Ogunlende emphasized the significance of instilling Quranic teachings in children from a young age, citing the profound impact such nurturing has on shaping the future of Nigeria. He underscored the importance of proactive efforts in fostering a generation of morally upright and knowledgeable individuals who will contribute positively to society.
Furthermore, Alhaji Ogunlende extended words of encouragement to Christian faithful observing Lent, emphasizing the collective responsibility of all Nigerians to pray and actively work towards a better and more prosperous nation.
The success of the fourth edition of the Badagry Quran Recitation Competition not only highlights the dedication of the RAK Foundation to promoting Islamic values and education but also serves as a beacon of hope for the future of Nigeria, shaped by enlightened and virtuous leaders.
