…. 76 year old grandma emerges as best students in Fashion Design Class

Itire-Ikate LCDA empowered youths and women with a skill acquisition program and the graduation took place earlier today at the council secretariat. The program focused on various skills, including tailoring, cosmetology/hairdressing, makeup, and catering.

Participants were equipped with essential tools and resources to excel in their chosen fields. Beneficiaries received a range of equipment such as overlocking machines, sewing machines, electric irons, tailoring accessories, massaging machines, mannequins, hand-dryers, salon kits, and makeup accessories.

In his speech, Hon. Ahmed Apatira, the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, highlighted the success of a self-reliance program aimed at empowering the community. The program focused on training individuals in various vocations such as cosmetology, hairdressing, tailoring, catering, and more.

The chairman emphasized the importance of self-reliance, stating that not everyone is meant for a white-collar job. By providing vocational training, the program enables individuals to become self-sufficient and support their families. Additionally, it contributes to the overall growth and development of Itire-Ikate LCDA.

The graduates of the program were encouraged to stay dedicated to their chosen vocations and avoid any negative influences. Hon. Ahmed Apatira urged them to remain focused on their respective fields, emphasizing the significance of their roles in the community.

Hon. Yetunde Jimba, the Vice Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, and Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, During her speech, urging the granduants to leverage their newly acquired skills and become successful entrepreneurs. Hon. Yetunde Jimba emphasized the importance of being outstanding ambassadors of Itire-Ikate LCDA.

In her address to the graduates, Hon. Yetunde Jimba emphasized the significance of utilizing the skills they had acquired during their training. She encouraged them to take charge of their own destinies and become their own bosses, fostering entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency.

Additionally, Hon. Yetunde Jimba stressed the importance of representing Itire-Ikate LCDA with pride and integrity. She urged the graduates to serve as exemplary ambassadors of the council, promoting its values and contributing positively to the community.

Mrs. Oluwatoyin, the Head of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Itire-Ikate LCDA, expressed her delight with the success of the vocational training program. She shared her experience, mentioning that the students of Itire Ikate showed their appreciation by warmly embracing the team.

The Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA recognized the importance of keeping the students engaged and productive during their summer holidays. To achieve this, over 200 students were enrolled in the vocational training program. Oluwatoyin explained that the students were called back during their holidays to receive their certificates, marking the completion of the program.

Bisoye Owolabi, one of the dedicated instructors in the vocational training program at Itire-Ikate LCDA, shared her experiences and the challenges they faced while working with the students. She expressed that despite the difficulties, they always strive to do their best.

Bisoye proudly mentioned that many of the students who completed the program reached out to them with success stories. Some of them started their own businesses, while others opened their own spas. It is heartwarming to hear how the skills acquired during the program have positively impacted the students’ lives and empowered them to pursue their dreams.

Abayomi Adekungbe, the tailoring instructor, shared his experience working with a large number of students, he said dealing with a class of 70+ students is undoubtedly a challenging task, but Abayomi embraced the opportunity to make a difference in their lives. He described his experience as wonderful, despite the difficulties that come with managing such a large group.

Abayomi also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA. He commended their tireless dedication and hard work in creating an environment where students can thrive and become their own bosses.

Mama Esther Agbeka, a 76-year-old grandmother, has defied age barriers by emerging as the top student in the fashion class. She expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the chairman and her teacher, acknowledging their significant contributions to her success.

The graduands expressed their sincere gratitude to Hon. Ahmed Apatira for the invaluable skills and tools he provided them.
