The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira, commenced the 2nd phase of a transformative 3-week training and empowerment initiative on tricycle technology named the “Apatira Queens Ride Initiative.” Collaborating with Simba Group, the program focuses on women and youths, aiming to impart comprehensive skills in operating three-wheel drive tricycles, commonly known as “Keke Marwa.”

Participants enrolled in the program will undergo practical training sessions on the nuances of “Keke Marwa” technology. As a unique incentive, they have the opportunity to acquire these tricycles through a hire-purchase arrangement, providing them with a means of income generation.

Furthermore, the local council has pledged support to program beneficiaries, reinforcing its commitment to the socio-economic development of the community. Notably, eligibility for participation is irrespective of party affiliations, emphasizing an inclusive approach to empowerment.

The inaugural event took place at the Agricultural Training Center on Odo-Olowu street, Ijesha, where Dr. Apatira underscored the program’s objectives—primarily, the reduction of unemployment, poverty, and idleness within the local population. He emphasized the importance of fostering self-reliance, alleviating economic pressures, and preparing participants for future challenges.

The chairman assured residents of his administration’s unwavering dedication to prioritizing the socio-economic welfare of the council area. Dr. Apatira envisioned this initiative as a significant stride toward improving living standards, aligning with broader goals of reducing unemployment and contributing to the socio-economic development of Itire-Ikate LCDA.

Simba Group’s Regional Manager, Mr. Ajit Janar, highlighted the initiative’s commitment to providing comprehensive training, particularly on the use of the “Deluxe Plus Tricycle,” a cutting-edge benchmark in Keke technology. Simba Group, a conglomerate established in 1988, operates across diverse economic sectors in Nigeria, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in various industries.

In a heartening response, Mrs. Lasisi Rukayat, a participant and a member of the PDP, commended the chairman for his inclusive approach. She expressed optimism that the empowerment initiative would create opportunities for employment, transcending political boundaries. This sentiment echoed the chairman’s assertion that the program transcends political affiliations, aiming to build a brighter future for the youth in the council.

Present at the event were the Regional Service Manager, Mr. Ajit Janar; National Service Manager, Mr. Sudip Seal; Retail Finance Manager, Mr. Akinola Olaoluwa; TVS Trainer (3W), Mr. Abubakar Imakiobor; Training Manager (3W), Mr. Jotto Wisdom; Itire-Ikate Artisan Chairman; Deputy Majority Leader, Itire-Ikate Legislative Arm, Hon.
