The FIDA Ikorodu branch, led by the Chairperson Barr. Abimbola Obaseki and other passionate members, embarked on a sensitization walk, engaging with the community and spreading the message of zero tolerance towards these heinous acts.
Barr. Abimbola Obaseki, the chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Ikorodu branch, leading the way at the FIDA Ikorodu Law Week 2023. The law week commenced on the 12th of December and it was engaging and informative.
The law week kicked off with a thought-provoking lecture titled “21st-century parenting.” This topic was selected to address the prevalent moral decay in society. Recognizing that the family and parents play a crucial role in shaping the foundation of society, Barr. Abimbola Obaseki emphasized the need for intentional parenting. This includes responsibly raising children, providing them with proper care, instilling values, and ensuring they receive education.
Continuing with the productive activities, FIDA Ikorodu held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) where each committee presented their reports. The meeting aimed to identify areas for improvement and determine a way forward to rectify any shortcomings from the previous year.
In a proactive effort to raise awareness about gender-based violence and genital mutilation, FIDA Ikorodu took to the streets this morning. They conducted a sensitization walk from the High Court to Inter Land, engaging with the community and highlighting the importance of addressing these critical issues.

During the second day of the event, Barr. Toun Adekoya discussing on variety of important topics, including domestic violence and child abuse. However, she also highlighted the often overlooked issue of palliative support for widows, emphasizing the need to show care and compassion towards those who have lost their partners.
Barr. Toun Adekoya expressed her belief that providing palliative support to widows is not just about meeting their practical needs but also about showing empathy and understanding during their time of grief. By addressing this issue, she hopes to raise awareness and encourage meaningful action within our community.
