
A solemn and heartfelt one-year remembrance ceremony was held in honor of the late Hon. Chief Mrs. Modupe Awodogan aka Iya Oniyan on Saturday, December 9th, 2023. The event took place with great reverence and respect, as family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered to remember and pay their respects to a wonderful woman who made a significant impact during her lifetime.
The remembrance ceremony began with a special prayer led by esteemed clerics, who prayed for the peaceful repose of Hon. Chief Mrs. Modupe Awodogan’s soul and offered comfort to her family and loved ones. The heartfelt prayers sought solace and healing during this time of remembrance and reflection.
In addition to the prayer ceremony, there was a touching gesture of support for the NGO founded by Hon. Chief Mrs. Modupe Awodogan, called “Save Our Widows to Survive.” Recognizing the importance of continuing her humanitarian work, palliative support was provided to the NGO during the remembrance ceremony. This support aims to uphold the legacy of Hon. Chief Mrs. Modupe Awodogan and ensure that her mission of supporting widows and their families continues.
The one-year remembrance ceremony served as a reminder of the profound impact Hon. Chief Mrs. Modupe Awodogan had on the lives of many. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to uplifting the vulnerable in society, particularly widows, will forever be remembered and cherished.
Hon. Niyi Awodogan, Supervisor for Transportation Odi-Olowo LCDA, expressed their dedication in supporting widows and emphasized the importance of continuous assistance.
Hon. Awodogan acknowledged that while it is ultimately God who cares for widows, it is crucial for the community to provide them with support. He emphasized that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a significant difference in their lives.
Hon. Awodogan reassured the widows that their hunger is not a reflection of their inability to provide for themselves, but rather a platform for others to honor and support them.
Princess Eniowo Dayo Awodogan, Supervisor for Tourism and Civic Engagement, Ikorodu West LCDA in her remarks she said to honor her late mother and make a positive impact in her community. Instead of celebrating her mother’s memory with a traditional party, she chose to give back to those in need, recognizing the struggles faced by many in Nigeria.
Understanding the prevalent hunger and the plight of widows, both female and male, Princess Eniowo decided to organize a charity program under the tagline “Save Our Widows Now.” This program has been running for several years, and she decided to dedicate it to the memory of her mother, the esteemed political icon Hon. Modupe Ola Awodokan, also known as Iya Oniyan.
Princess Eniowo’s message to fellow Nigerians is one of patience and unwavering faith in God. She encourages everyone to trust in divine intervention and to put their struggles and challenges in the hands of the Almighty.
In a touching display of appreciation, the widows who benefited from Chief Mrs. Awodogan’s NGO, “Save Our Widows to Survive,” expressed their heartfelt gratitude to her children for the food packs.
Moved by this kind gesture, the widows offered their prayers and blessings to Chief Mrs. Awodogan’s children.
