Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni earlier today commissioned the newly constructed the newly constructed Senator Oluremi Tinubu Ultra Modern Market, Customary Court, Library, and ICT Center which was constructed by Itire-Ikate LCDA under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Apatira.
Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, expressed his admiration for the aesthetically placed edifice and extended his heartfelt commendations to Dr. Prince Ahmed Apatira, the Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, for a job well done. The senator also congratulated the people of the community, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the success of the market.
During his speech, Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun emphasized the importance of believing in Nigeria, its president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the state government, and the local government chairman, Dr. Ahmed Apatira, as he conveyed his optimism for a brighter future.
The Senator acknowledged the exceptional work done by the local government chairman, highlighting the positive impact on the lives of the people in the community. He extended his heartfelt Congratulations and gave kudos to the Chairman for a job well done.
Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira, the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, In his address, He highlighted the significance of the market, emphasizing its role in expanding local and international business reach along the Apapa/Oshodi expressway, a major international highway within Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area. He recounted how the site was once a dumping ground and a hideout for miscreants, but after a thorough feasibility study, he and his team decided to transform it into a hub of economic activity for the community.
Within the first two years of their administration, Hon. Ahmed Apatira and his team successfully completed the first phase of the market and rehabilitated Adesina Street, the primary access road to the market and the international highways along the ljesha community borders in Itire-Ikate LCDA.
The commissioning of the second phase marks yet another milestone in the administration’s efforts to create sustainable business and economic development infrastructure, furthering their vision of prosperity and progress for the people.
Hon. Ahmed Apatira highlighted the significant impact this market would have on the local and national economy. He emphasized that the influx of international traders would bring in a substantial amount of foreign exchange, ultimately contributing to the growth of the Nigerian economy. Additionally, the new market is expected to attract more revenue to the Local Government, enhancing the overall Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
One of the most remarkable aspects of this development is the positive implications it holds for the community. Hon. Ahmed Apatira passionately stated that the establishment of the new market would pave the way for the emergence of numerous Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMES).
