In a bid to support and uplift the entrepreneurial spirit in Nigeria, Naija Tech Brain organized a groundbreaking National Pitch Competition. The event provide a platform for young Nigerian entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative ideas and solutions, it took place on Saturday, 11th of November.

Naija Tech rewarded participants with prestigious awards and a significant financial boost for their businesses.

Sherry Pepple, the founder and president of Naija Tech Brain, has been making waves in Nigeria’s innovation scene. Naija Tech Brain, an organization focused on promoting innovation and providing support to promising entrepreneurs, aims to boost Nigeria’s presence in the international market.

With the backing of a consortium in the UK and the US, Niger Tech Brain has created a platform for underrepresented entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and showcase their talents. The organization strives to shift Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy to a production-driven one, fostering competitiveness on a global scale.

In June, Naija Tech Brain launched a social media campaign to reach entrepreneurs in every state of Nigeria. The goal was to set up an interstate competition, showcasing the diverse talents across the country. After a rigorous selection process, the top ten finalists were chosen and embarked on a ten-week acceleration program.

Throughout the program, the finalists received guidance from various mentors who shared their expertise and insights. “Today being the grand finale of the program, a culmination of the intense and transformative ten-week journey.”

Sherry said, The entrepreneurs have embarked on a journey filled with innovation and creativity. The grand finale of the competition, which also doubles as a gala night, was filled with lots of good memories.

The aim of this event is to encourage and inspire. With industry professionals, CEOs, and government representatives in attendance, the audience were captivated by the amazing showcases. “This is just the beginning, as we strive to create a platform for Nigerians to demonstrate their talents and make a mark in the international market.”

She emphasized that Nigerians are not just called “Tech Brain” for the sake of a name, but to highlight our ability to think, innovate, and be creative. Our focus is on making our innovations not only known within Nigeria but also globally recognized.

She added “The event was filled with excitement, As it is a gala night, we appreciate the support of sponsors for making the evening a success. We gave awards for outstanding individuals, including the Audience Award, and we are committed to creating investment opportunities for all ten businesses involved.”

In conclusion she said “We want each participant to leave with something valuable because their unique businesses deserve recognition and support. It’s a win-win scenario for everyone involved.”

Dr. Femi Adeluyi National Coordinator for the National Agency for Technology and Entrepreneurship Promotion (NATEP), delivered a captivating keynote address on the topic “Making Nigeria a Centre of Excellence for Innovation.”

During his address, Dr. Femi Adeluyi emphasized the immense potential that Nigeria possesses to become a global hub for innovation. He highlighted the critical role that innovation plays in driving economic growth, creating job opportunities, and fostering sustainable development.

Dr. Adeluyi’s speech shed light on the need for a comprehensive strategy that encourages research and development, fosters collaboration between academia and industry, and provides the necessary support and infrastructure for innovators to thrive. He urged stakeholders to embrace a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, where creativity, risk-taking, and adaptability are celebrated.

Mr. Femi Ojo, a moderator of the all men panel, leads engaging panel session on the topic of “Leveraging on Technology for an Export-led Economic Growth.”

While the speakers on the panel session consists of Mr Hakeem Onasanya – Head of startups, Lagos Innovates, Mr Ayobami Olajide- A venture capitalist professional, and also serves on the Entrepreneur Selection & Growth (ESG) team at Endeavor Nigeria and Mr Orimolade Oluwamuyemi – Marketing and Communications manager, Microsoft ADC West

The panel session aims to explore the critical role of technology in driving Nigeria’s economic growth through exports. With advancements in technology, there are vast opportunities for businesses to expand their reach globally and increase export potential.

The all women panel session was also an engaging and insightful discussion with esteemed speakers; Dr Adetola Salau – the newly appointed special assistant to Lagos State Governor, Mrs Sophie Elejue- CEO, PushFactor and Mrs Violet Adesina- Business Expert.
