In commemoration of the 2023 Igbogbo Day and 7th coronation of Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom 7th year Anniversary, the Igbogbo Day Planning committee holds press conference to brief what this year celebration has in store for sons, daughters and other visitors.

The Chairman of the Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, Mr. Nasir Titilope Andu-Balogun. In his speech, expressing gratitude to God for allowing us to witness the 35th edition of Igbogbo Day Celebration. He also thanked the fathers and mothers who started this tradition back in 1988, bringing the community together and raising funds for the development of Igbogbo Kingdom and the Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area.

This year’s Igbogbo Day Celebration, with the theme “Ogo S’Ogo” (Glory to Glory), is extra special because it coincides with the 7th Coronation Anniversary of HRM (OBA) Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom. It’s truly a time to give thanks for the blessings that have been bestowed upon the Land of Cool Beauty, especially with the ongoing infrastructural projects in the Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area.

Some of these exciting projects include the Nigeria Immigration Service Igbogbo Passport Office, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road, Igbogbo Sports Stadium, Obafemi Awolowo Road, and the newly completed Akin Oqunlewe Road. And let’s not forget the 13KM Oreta Road, which is part of the approved supplementary budget of our esteemed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).

He continued “It’s amazing to see how the spirit of Igbogbo Day has spread, even reaching our brothers and sisters in the United States of America, who started their own version of Igbogbo Day. The event, held on Saturday, July 8th, 2023, saw Igbogbo natives residing in the US gather to commemorate their heritage and foster a sense of community.”

Inspired by this resounding success, the organizers are now reaching out to their Brothers and Sisters in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe, encouraging them to replicate this momentous occasion in their respective locales. The aim is to unite Igbogbo people across the globe and ensure the OGO SOGO mantra reverberates far and wide.

The successful realization of the Igbogbo Day celebration owes much to the unwavering support and contributions of esteemed individuals. Notably, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, played a pivotal role in making the event a resounding success. Senator Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Babajimi Benson, the Ikorodu Federal Constituency Representative in the Federal House of Representatives, and Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Member Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, all contributed significantly to the festivities.

Furthermore he said, the resourceful Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, together with the elected councillors from the five wards in the area, played crucial roles in ensuring a seamless and memorable event.

The Igbogbo community expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo, founder of KICC Church, for selecting Igbogbo Kingdom as the venue for his ongoing global crusade at the Igbogbo Stadium in Lagos State.

He also appreciated the Chairman of the Grand-Finale of the 35th Igbogbo Day, Rt (Hon.) Mudashiru Obasa – the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, the Royal Father of the Day – HRM (OBA) Dr. Sulaimon Adesina Raji, Ilufemiloye
1, Oniba Ekun of Iba Kingdom. On a final note, In conclusion he said “we sieze this medium to call on all Igbogbo indigenes to join hands in driving Igbogbo Kingdom and Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area to an enviable Eldorado.”
