
Lions International District 404-A3 organised Teachers training through its Lions’ Quest successful three-day workshop on teacher’s training workshop On skills for adolescents, held at Unique Prella School, Ikorodu it brought together teachers from 13 different schools who were nominated to participate in this transformative program.
Lion Kola Oyekanmi, the Lion Quest Senior Trainer and facilitator, in his words “The primary objective of the workshop was to equip teachers with the necessary skills to implement the Land Square Keys program in their respective schools. This curriculum-based program focuses on evidence-based and social-emotional learning, with different skill sets tailored for primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary schools.”
He added “Throughout the three days, teachers engaged in interactive sessions, sharing ideas and learning from one another. The workshop provided a platform for collaboration and growth, ensuring that the teachers are well-prepared to effectively implement the program after receiving their certification.”
Lion Lady Funmi Alabi, the Chairperson for Lion Quest 2023/24, in her words their plan is to elevate the Lion Quest program to greater heights. Recognizing the importance of this program for adolescents, Lion Lady Funmi Alabi and her team are working tirelessly to raise awareness and engage clubs within the district and multiple districts.
The focus of this endeavor is to shed light on the significance of Lion Quest in the lives of adolescents. It has come to their attention that many adults in the community have lost their way due to negative influences and activities.
Lion Lady Funmi Alabi message to the participants emphasized the value of the three quality days spent learning about essential skills for adolescence. She urged them not to let this valuable knowledge go to waste. The workshop provided insights into stabilizing adult emotions, integrating Lion Quest into school curricula, and fostering lasting friendships.
Lion Lady Funmi Alabi encouraged everyone to implement Lion Quest in their respective schools, believing that it will benefit each and every one of them.
Nwenazor Blessing, the Proprietress of Unique Prella School, expressed her gratitude for the impactful program. She shared how the workshop opened her eyes to new ways of supporting adolescents in their schools, specifically those aged between ten and nineteen years. The knowledge gained from Lion Quest has inspired her to extend this support to other students, ensuring their holistic development.
Adegbola Helen Olubunmi, a participant in the recently concluded three-day workshop, expressed her excitement and enthusiasm about the valuable insights gained during the program. She described the experience as interesting and fantastic, highlighting how it opened her eyes to the challenges faced by adolescents and youth in our society.
