It was all glamour as Golden Integrated Empowerment Foundation in collaboration with Damsy Foundation staged it’s Walk- athon on Cancer and prevention on the 7th of October 2023 at Ajose bus-Stop, owode Ibeshe, Ikorodu Lagos State.

The event which witnessed a great turn- out of women in their numbers, started with a talk from the founder of Damsy Foundation, Mrs Bukola Owokudu, who enlightened the people on the effect of the disease called cancer, the dangers, and likely health challenges it poses in the life of its victims, if not detected early and treated.

In a speech made by the woman activist Ikorodu chapter, Mrs Obayomi Elizabeth, she sensitized the public of the deadly disease, and measures in which it can be curbed and treated in the society, admonishing, the people on possible ways to check for symptoms and signs of the disease in the body. In her statement, she emphasized, on the need for daily check up routine every day before going out, as this would help reduce the likely chances of been affected with the disease. She also enlightened the public, that the disease is not only prone to the female gender alone, as the men could also suffer from prostrate cancer if no regular check-up is been carried out.

The Convener and founder of the initiative, Ambassador Patricia Okosodo, in her statement,reiterated on the importance of early detection of the disease, as this would help save lives and prevent possible recurrence of the disease.

High point of the event was the dance presentation by some of the ladies during the walk, in order to arrest the interest of the people, creating awareness in the eyes of the public.
