… Over 6000 constituents receives food packs across Lagos East.

Senator Adetokunbo Mukhail Abiru, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of supporting the constituency during these challenging times.
“This is another series of support that we are giving to our constituency, particularly around the times we live in,” Senator Abiru stated. He acknowledged the economic challenges faced by the country, which can be traced back to past events and global implications, such as the Russian-Ukraine war impacting commodity prices.
Highlighting the decision to remove subsidy, the Senator explained, “which is a step we have to take to better the state of the country, which will, however, affect the people but in the long run will make things better for us.” He emphasized the need to come to the aid of all constituents and carry out support programs on a quarterly basis. Programs have already been conducted in June and October, with another one planned for December.
Senator Abiru emphasized the importance of empowering political leaders to support their communities and uplift vulnerable members. Regardless of religious affiliation, both Christian and Muslim leaders have been entrusted with the responsibility of selecting individuals from their societies who require assistance.
In total, over 6000 vulnerable members across Lagos East have been selected to benefit from these initiatives. Senator Abiru’s commitment to protecting the vulnerable members of society is evident in the selection process.
Senator Abiru added, “One of the key areas of focus is the improvement of the Itoikin road, which was originally constructed by the late Yakubu Gowon in 1995. Known for its unbearable conditions and lack of motorability, this road has long been a cause of concern for residents and commuters alike.
However, thanks to the support of the new administration, progress is being made towards addressing this issue. The current Minister of Works, upon assuming office, immediately prioritized the Itoikin road and pledged to implement plans for its reconstruction in the shortest possible time.
While acknowledging the urgency of the situation, the Minister urged patience from the public, assuring them that construction on the road will commence in the near future.
Otunba Saheed Ibikunle, the Special Adviser to the Distinguished Senator on Constituency matters, emphasized that the distribution of food packs is not political. He highlighted the merits of the sharing formula, which includes Religious Leaders, Traditional Leaders, CDC/CDA, Youths, Elderly people, Women, and people living with Disabilities, among others.
Mr. F.O Lasisi, the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation, expressed his appreciation to the Senator, acknowledging that he has accomplished something unprecedented.
Alhaja Joke Jayesimi, Iya Alaje General Ikorodu, also praised the Senator, stating that he consistently attends to the needs of the vulnerable. “If we had more individuals like him in the country, it would undoubtedly lead to a better Nigeria.”
One of the Beneficiaries Mr. Tunde praised the Senator for his consistent efforts in remembering and addressing their needs, highlighting his exceptional dedication to public service.
Other beneficiaries expressed their deep appreciation to Senator Tokunbo Abiru for his recent food pack distribution initiative.
