
Hon. Ahmed Olarenwaju Apatira, the Executive Chairman Itire-Ikate LCDA, earlier today distributed food packs to the People living with Disabilities and Nursing Mothers during their clinic appointment at the Itire-Ikate primary health center.
Hon. Ahmed Apatira unveiled a new initiative aimed at easing the burden of subsidy removal on the community, In his speech, Hon. Apatira emphasized the importance of supporting the people of the local government by providing them with essential food items.
“We have to enhance the lives of the people in our local government by supporting them with food items,” Chairman Apatira stated. “We started by giving to the physically challenged individuals and mothers during their children’s clinical appointments at the health center.”
This initiative is not a one-time event, but rather a monthly effort to alleviate food poverty in the community. Chairman Apatira highlighted that the distribution of food items will not be limited to politicians, but will extend to various associations and communities. The budget for this initiative allows for the provision of 5,000 food items.
“The strategy we have put in place ensures that these food items are given to different associations and communities, such as the Muslim community, Christian community, traditional community, CDA’s, and Market People,” Chairman Apatira explained.
The food items distributed include Garri, Rice, Beans, meat, and groundnut oil, each household will receive 5kg of these essential provisions, ensuring that families have access to nutritious meals.
Head of People Living with Disabilities in Itire-Ikata LCDA Mrs Kemi Sarumi expressed her excitement regards the initiative, she said” this program is nice, at least our chairman has put smile on our faces, it means a lot, because the chairman is a father figure to us all, so for him to reach out to us, we appreciate”.
Hon. Kehinde Baruwa, Secretary to the Local Government Itire-Ikate LCDA he said “To ensure that the palliative go round, we gave the traditional figures, the market people, CDC, Christian leaders, Imams each person was issued a ticket to enable them to have access to the palliative from your designated location, the ticket issued to people from Ijesha differ from the one issued to Itire people to ensure transparency, the ticket is given the Head of different association in the Local Government”.
