The organizing committee for the 20th anniversary of Imota Students’ Union headed by Comrade Odufesi Temitope Rukayat highlights programs for the anniversary in a fireside chat monitored by our correspondent.

According to the head of the committee, “the ISU WEEK’23 which this year is marked as our 20th anniversary will start on Friday, 20th of October and end by Sunday, 29th of October, 2023.”

Responding to questions, she said, “the anniversary will start with a special jumaat service, after which it will continue with the Free Jamb Form Scholarship, Imota Got Talent, Celebration of our Heroes as the grand finale and end with a Thanks Giving Service on Sunday.”

Explaining further on the programs of the week, she said, “Day 1: Special Jumaat Prayers; As a student body, we recognize the potency of prayers. Hence, we shall start the anniversary with Special Jumaat prayers for the students in Imota, the union and Imota at large. This will hold on Friday, 20th of October, 2023 at Imota Central Mosque by 1pm.

Day 2: Free JAMB Form Scholarship;
This program is annual and one of the most anticipated program of the union by admission seekers. Last year, we gave out 45 and the results was motivating and this year, we are working towards awarding 100 JAMB forms. This will greatly boost the population of higher institution students in Imota. There will be an aptitude test on Monday, 23rd of October, 2023 at Imota Community Grammar School, for the applicants and the qualified aspirants will be awarded at the grand finale program.

Day 3: Imota Got Talent;
This program will be staged to give a platform to students and young people within Imota to showcase their talents. We look forward to bringing facilitators that will help the participants on how to monitize their talents. This program will hold on Wednesday, 25th of October, 2023 at Admos Hall, Imota.

Day 4: Free Medical & Health Enlightenment Program;
This program personally gives me joy. It avails Imota populace the opportunity to run medical test, diagnosis, meet medical doctors, get drug prescriptions and go home with dispensed drugs. To achieve this, we shall be working with Ikorodu General Hospital, Imota Primary Health Centre, Caleb University Medical Unit, and the private hospitals in Imota to supply us with personnel while we raise funds for the drugs. This program will hold at Ikorodu General Hospital, Imota Annex, Itun-Onabu on Thursday, 26th, 2023.

Day 5: Celebration of our Heroes;
This day shall be the grand finale of the anniversary. We shall be celebrating our past and present leaders, comrades, sponsors and individuals and groups that have made tremendous impact on the union and Imota at large. There will be lecture, panel discussion, launching of the union magazine, awards and fundraising for the union permanent site, amongst other socio – cultural activities. This program will hold on Saturday, 28th of October, 2023 at Admos Hall.

Day 6: Thanks Giving Service;
This day is usually for worship, dance and prayer of thanks in appreciation to God for a successful week program. The program shall be holding at Saint Johns Anglican Church, Imota on Sunday, 29th of October, 2023.” She concluded.
