
In a show of appreciation, the council staffs of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA applauded the remarkable initiatives led by Mayor Dele Oshinowo.
Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, has taken significant steps to support the council staffs during these challenging times. As part of his initiatives, he distributed food packs and cowry cards to the staffs earlier today.
Speaking about these efforts, Mayor Oshinowo stated, “Recently, we had a subsidy intervention program and started what we called a food bank to support our community. As subsidy removal is affecting our community, we decided to extend our support to the staff members who are also going through this rough process.”
Recognizing the impact of subsidy removal on public servants, Mayor Oshinowo mentioned that the President is setting up a committee to help alleviate this issue. In response, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA introduced a transportation intervention program for the staff and initiated a program to provide them with food staples, particularly benefiting the junior staff members.
Mayor Oshinowo said each staff members cowry card has been loaded with ten thousand naira, which will take care of their fare for three weeks or more, with the slash fare on BRT buses by the Executive Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, it will sustain them for a long period of time.
Mayor Oshinowo emphasized that the welfare of the people and staffs is the primary purpose behind these initiatives. The first section of the We-Lift food Initiative program will last for three months, starting from August and continuing until October.
Comrade Ashafa Oladimeji, Chairman of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees Agboyi Ketu branch, commend Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, for his efforts to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal.
Comrade Oladimeji expressed his appreciation for the food items provided to the staffs and the introduction of the cowry card system to address transportation challenges faced by staff members residing in areas with BRT corridors, such as Ketu, Ikorodu, Maryland, and Iyanapaja axis.
In response to the increased transportation fares, the state has proposed that staff should come to the office three times a week, allowing for better coordination between management and staffs. Chairman has taken it upon himself to support the staff by loading each staff member’s cowry card with ten thousand, ensuring personalized assistance.
The council staffs expressed their gratitude for Mayor Oshinowo’s dedication and commitment to improving the lives of staffs in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. The Cowry cards and food packs initiative will be particularly impactful, providing support to the council staffs.
