Lagos Central Youth Representative, Abdulmumin Edidi, has praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his people-centric initiative on subsidized transportation costs for the people of Lagos State as a palliative measure to the high cost of living.

Edidi, who spoke on behalf of young people across Lagos Central Senatorial District, said that the initiative by the governor to enable a 50% reduction in BRT fare and a 25% reduction for yellow buses has been described as excellent by the youth.

He noted that young people constitute a significant part of the workforce and have been largely affected by the increased cost of transportation, owing to the phased-out fuel subsidy scheme. Most people have not been able to go to work, market, and public events, while some have even lost their source of livelihood.

However, Edidi raised an alarm over the flouting of the order by yellow bus drivers in different parts of Lagos Central Senatorial District and urged the governor to further enforce the laudable initiative.

Edidi, who is a representative of the Lagos Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, called on the governor to be steadfast in his efforts to make life easier for the people of Lagos State.
