
Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club in partnership with YALI Network Hub (Ikordu Division) recently celebrated Nelson Mandela Day with a community service project on Tuesday 18th of July, at Ikorodu Junior Grammar School. The event was aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and community service while celebrating the legacy of Nelson Mandela.
As part of the celebration, the organizers planted a tree in Ikorodu Junior Grammar School and carried out a clean-up project in the school environment. The clean-up project was focused on removing waste and debris from the school environment, and it was an opportunity for the students to learn about the importance of environmental sustainability.
In addition to the clean-up project, the organizers had an interactive section with the students. During the interactive section, they educated the students on the environment and what Nelson Mandela’s Day is all about. The students learned about the importance of environmental sustainability and community service, and they were inspired to become active members of their community.
The Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club and YALI Network Hub (Ikordu Division) are committed to continuing Nelson Mandela’s legacy by making a positive impact in the community and inspiring young people to become active members of their community. They are creating a culture of environmental awareness and civic responsibility, and they are making the community a better place, one project at a time.
Speaking on the event, the Membership Director of Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club, Leo Keji Lawal, said, “We are delighted to partner with YALI Network Hub (Ikordu Division) to celebrate Nelson Mandela Day. This day is a reminder of the importance of community service and environmental sustainability, and it is a great way to inspire young people to become active members of their community.”

Also speaking, the Coordinator of YALI Network Hub (Ikordu Division), Mr. Mr Olumide Kolawole, said, “We are proud to partner with Ikorodu Diamond Leo Club to celebrate Nelson Mandela Day, he emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability and the planting of trees.
He said that planting trees is an excellent way to contribute to environmental sustainability, as trees help to purify the air, provide shade, and support biodiversity. They also help to prevent soil erosion and mitigate the effects of climate change.
Furthermore, Mr. Olumide Kolawole highlighted the significance of community service and how it can contribute to environmental sustainability. He said that community service is an essential part of building a strong and vibrant community. It helps to foster unity, promote the common good, and inspire young people to become responsible citizens.
