
Lagos State Water Corporation (LWC) Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani, has embarked on an inspection tour of the corporation’s facilities across the state. The tour was aimed at assessing the corporation’s infrastructure and operations, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that the corporation is delivering on its mandate.
Accompanied by the new Executive Director of Operations, Engr. Helen Taiwo, and other top management staff of the corporation, Engr. Tijani visited several waterworks, including 45MGD Iju, 70MGD Adiyan I Waterworks, Under Construction 70MGD Adiyan Phase II water treatment plant, and Akute Intakes.
During the tour, Engr. Tijani inspected the raw water inlet, horizontal sedimentation tank, vertical sedimentation tank, filter tanks, chemical building, clear water pump station, and laboratory at Iju plant. At Adiyan plant, he visited the clarifier, filter beds, IPS, chemical building, laboratory, power house, among others.
Engr. Tijani also visited the Adiyan Phase II water treatment plant, which is solely funded by the state government, and has a design capacity of 70MGD to supply about 3 million people in Lagos West, Ikotun, Idimu, Isolo, Agege I & II, Ajegunle, Amuwo Odofin, and other benefiting communities.
The LWC boss expressed satisfaction with the facilities he inspected, commending the staff for their dedication and hard work in ensuring that Lagos residents have access to clean and safe water. He also reiterated the corporation’s commitment to improving its operations and infrastructure in order to provide quality water supply to the residents of Lagos State.
The tour was part of Engr. Tijani’s efforts to assess the corporation’s infrastructure and operations across the state, and it is hoped that it will lead to better infrastructure, more efficient operations, and improved access to clean water for Lagosians.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has rehabilitated the major waterworks of Iju, Adiyan Waterworks, and Akute Intakes as an emergency intervention towards improved water service in the State. This intervention has resulted in a significant improvement in water delivery in the State.
