
Today, the 16th of June 2023, the AFD mission led by the Senior Transport Specialist Mr David Margonsztern carried out a project appraisal and supervision mission to LASWA. The purpose of the mission was to hold the final workshop of the WIDE-LAG project preparatory studies with the stakeholders which would be coming up on Wednesday 21st of June, 2023.
The workshop was attended by the Representative of International Economic Relation Department from the Federal Ministry of Finance, the General Manager Mr. Damilola Emmanuel and staffs of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), and other stakeholders. The WIDE-LAG project aims to improve the water transport system in Lagos State by creating new infrastructure, upgrading existing ones, and improving the management of the water transport system.
The workshop provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the findings of the preparatory studies and provide feedback. The AFD team also provided technical assistance and guidance to ensure that the project meets international standards and best practices.
The project is expected to have a significant impact on the water transport system in Lagos State, which is an important means of transportation for many residents. The WIDE-LAG project is part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to improve the transport system in the state and make it more efficient and sustainable.
