The Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Deola Banjo has led the Executive members, legislators, management and relevant staff members of Ikorodu North LCDA to AM to PM hotels, Ijebu Ode to draw up a workable and realistic plan for the next fiscal year which is fast approaching.

Having held the consultative budget stakeholders meeting where every stakeholder of the LCDA stormed the local council to have their inputs in the year 2023 budget. It is time for the Council officials to put heads together to draw up a robust plan that would guide the activities of the “Tower of resources” in year 2023.

The retreat was declared open by the Chairman who is not only a Builder by profession but equally a builder of men and capacity.

In his welcome address, Banjoo reminded the participants of the importance and significance of the retreat and why he has decided to take it to a more cosy environment free from all form of distractions. He reiterated his plans for the people next year and thus solicits the commitment of the internal stakeholders in developing a carefully planned financial guide for the coming year which informed the direction of the theme of the retreat – Budget of All-inclusiveness.

The budget retreat will equally accommodate team bonding programs, lectures and activities that would allow for free flow of ideas.

“We are here to flag off, a month ago I came to address the residents of this community, the road is about 3.3 kilometers long and we promised them we will come back within a month to flag of the commencement of this road. “

“Last week I went to see the Governor to inform him about this flag off, he is also well abreast about what we are doing and i heard them say something about the transformer, he is ready to support what we are doing. We are here to flag off the road, we thank God all things are going well. We should be able to complete the road between four or five months.”

“All things being equal and with the residents being corporative, we have done it before, we completed the road. The full payment is already on ground. I expressed my misgivings about them earlier, if they live up to expectations by Easter, this road should be complete.”

“It’s election season and the voting turn out from Eruwen is always low, so we want to bring development to them and we want them to react to us positively, So let us see what they have for in stored us, if they turn out well, the Government too will be interested so also the Senator and the House of Representatives as well is listening because the constituency falls under them. The councilor is also to ensure we give Eruwen a first class facility.”

Hon. Banjo the Executive Chairman Ikorodu North in his own remarks “I want to thank our MHR, because they have brought peace, Harmony we are very grateful for this and we can see the people, they are very, very happy as we can see the road, it is 3.3 meters and you know what that means. If they are selling houses here for 8 or 4 or 5 million, before they complete this road, it will skyrocket.”

He added “We will do more engagement with the people so that the people will know what is going on, we will work with the CDA to have a banner at strategic positions Of the community to sensitize people that this road is being reconstructed and we also work with the council, I can assure you that no body will disturb you on this road it is a major development, and let me also tell the community that the MHR is saying that we have four transformers included”

The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Deola Banjo has once again demonstrated his love for his people in the Odogunyan area of Ikorodu North as he gave out cash gift to support SMEs, Widows, students and residents of Ikorodu North in need of leverage support yesterday.

The program “Owo-Ife Banjo”, fifth of it’s kind has gone round the five wards of Ikorodu North meaning the Chairman has used the medium of the Owo-Ife Banjo program to directly touch the lives of residents of Ikorodu North LCDA.

Honourable Bimbola Daramola, the Councillor of the ward thanked the Chairman for the show of love on behalf of her people after which beneficiaries of the ‘gesture prayed wholeheartedly for the Chairman as they sang his praises to high heavens.

Builder Deola Banjo mourns the passing onto glory of Alhaji Akibu Adewunmi the former Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government.

The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Deola Banjo condoles with the children, family members and the political family of Ikorodu North on the passage of one of our Apex leader and father, Alhaji Akibu Adewunmi who passed on to the great beyond yesterday and has been buried today according to muslim rite.

“There is no need denying the fact that his fatherly wisdom and leadership guidance would be greatly missed as he was a rallying point for us at the ‘Tower of resources’.”

“The fact that he lived a worthy and rich life is a source of consolation for us. He came, he saw and he reached the pinnacle of his career as a politician as the former Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government when it was just one and he was entrusted with so many positions of authority until his death.”

“I have heard at a sermon that one of those who will enter paradise is one who has the grace to die at an old age. I pray almighty Allah in his infinite mercy make our father Alhaji Akibu Adewunmi an inmate of paradise and forgive his shortcomings.”

Lagos Restates Commitment To Eradicate Hunger and Poverty Through Agriculture ~Ajasa-Info

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to eradicate hunger, poverty and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs relating to agriculture.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu re-echoed this in a message to this year’s Farmers Fair, organised by the State Ministry of Agriculture to commemorate the World Food Day, with the theme : “Safe Food Today For a healthy Tomorrow”

The Governor pointed out that his administration had implemented numerous projects and programmes to tackle hunger, malnutrition, unemployment, and under-employment and also boost food production and supply systems, in line with the Lagos State Agricultural and Food System Roadmap, 2021-2025.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folasade Jaji, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the entire world to act now to create inclusive economic growth, alleviate inequities, boost resilience, and achieve the SDGs.

“Let me assure you of this administration’s commitment to intensifying our drive to support our farmers, encourage small and medium scale agro-processors, and create an enabling environment for private sector involvement in agriculture, as this will go a long way towards expanding the economy.

This year’s World Food Day is coming at a time when many economies are grappling with serious food security issues caused by numerous factors including the war between Russia and Ukraine, climate change, environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, inequalities, and other violent conflicts across regions both nationally and internationally.



The entire globe must act now.

The 2022 World Food Day campaign calls for global solidarity and action to restructure agrifood systems in order to create inclusive economic growth, alleviate inequities, boost resilience, and achieve sustainable development. This must be met for us to have a certain and healthy tomorrow” the Governor emphasized.

While welcoming the large numbers of people who had turned up for the Fair, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya who listed series of activities to enhance the annual World Food Day in Lagos involving all farmers and young school children as part of efforts to encourage them to embrace agriculture, said the annaul event has always been observed to celebrate Farmers.

She said “It is worthy to note that the Ministry of Agriculture under the administration of Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has since inception embarked on programmes and reforms driven towards ensuring a food secured State. There are also policies geared towards making the space profitable for stakeholders in various value chains that have been implemented”



The highlights of the celebration include dancing/march past by farmers from all Local government and Council Development Areas with their various produce and livestock, presentation of prizes and awards to outstanding farmers and winners of the various competitions organised for students in State-owned schools, as well as the winner of
the Public Speaking competition under the Lagos Agric Scholars Programme, LASP.

Miss Klistiwedo Hunpe from Kankon Senior Model College, Badagry who came first was decorated as the Agric Ambassadors for Year 2022 to Year 2023 during the Farmers Fair, while outstanding farmers went home with different prizes, including a deep chest freezer each.

Ikorodu North LCDA was ably led by Asiwaju Wale Ogunbela JP The Supervisor for Agriculture, rural development and Chieftancy affairs Ikorodu North LCDA.

BUILDER DEOLA BANJO, KIMBERLY-CLARK TAKES HYGIENE TO PUBLIC HEALTH CENTRES, SCHOOLS, RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS TO PROMOTE HYGIENE ~Ajasa-Info

The management of Ikorodu North LCDA has partnered with the international company Kimberly-Clark to bring hygiene to the grassroot through the Water aid project which is intended to ensure public places have access to clean and portable water.

In line with the objectives of the partnership, Ikorodu North LCDA will provide water to public facilities that does not have water within Ikorodu North while Kimberly-Clark would provide toilet buildings for the places.

An agreement that has seen Ikorodu North commence fulfilling this obligation by providing borehole water system to Omolaiye PHC and Lambo Lasunwon primary health care centres in the take-off phase of the project.

The Chairman, Builder Deola Banjo believes the provision of such facility will help to promote good hygiene that will in turn drive behavioural change among residents in line with the vision of the project.

In the coming days, identified public places that lacks good water systems such as School, religious places and motor parks will benefit from the initiative.

The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Deola Banjo has laid the foundation for an ultra-modern market at Isiu yesterday 8th of September 2022.

The Chairman alongside members of his Executive council and legislative arm of Ikorodu North LCDA observed the block- laying ceremony in the presence of the Eweye of Isiu land, Oba David Kayode Raji.

Banjo while addressing the gathering expressed his unreserved joy for the commencement of the project saying it is aimed at boosting the social and economic development of the ancient town.

The Eweye of Isiu land, Oba David Kayode Raji equally performed the block laying exercise while he also blessed the project for its official commencement.

The market when completed will have stalls for traders, a befitting toilet and adequate security.

In the remarks of The Hon. Adeniran Adeyemi ward E3 Councillor “My Good Chairman has been doing this across the wards in his administration and today is the turn of my ward, which I have the privilege to monitor the benefactors of this empowerment”.

“Infact my expectation is that the Chairman will postpone the empowerment for this month due to some reasons but not until he called me that it’s the turn of my ward so I need to go out and look for people that are in needy and have small scale business that they engaged themselves with.

In commemoration of the one year anniversary of Builder Deola Banjo as the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, he decided to come up with something different by bringing his people together to discuss and invite officials that understand these issues from the Government agencies in Lagos State to educate them, The challenges of flooding plaguing the Odogunyan community within Ikorodu North LCDA with the THEME: Biennial Environmental Discourse on Perennial flooding of First gate/Odogunyan and it’s Evirons challenges of flooding plaguing the Odogunyan community within my LCDA has become a worrisome development for me and many discerning minds. The situation has reached a disturbing rate such that I couldn’t have thought of a better way to mark our one year in office than to hinge it on this menace which has rendered many homeless and hopeless.”

The HOD of Urban and Regional planning Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) highlights reasons behind flooding in the area of first gate and Odogunyan with a pictorial evidence he said these areas where erosion is meant to pass through wasn’t there again because houses has been built on them, whereas erosion has its route that is meant to go through and it will always go through these routes no matter the diversion, that’s why we always experience house collapse and the likes, on this note there is no much solutions than demolition but we never wanted that, advise to the people that just wants acquire land is to ensure you never buy a land meant for erosion in order to avoid the occurrence happening to the people witnessing it in the last few months.

The representative of Drainage Services Mrs. highlights the work the department has carried out in the past years in the area of Ikorodu and she assured that the area of first gate/Odogunyan will not be left out in clearing the drainage for free flow of erosions, she also mentioned displayed the pictorial work going on at the Oba Sekunmade area “In the past few months now we’re working tirelessly to ensure we clear all canals and gutters for free flow of erosions.”

“I’d also advise us not pour dirt in our various drainage all these are the one causing blockage of the drainage which will not allow erosion to go freely, at the end of the day it will damage the road. If you have any complain in your area that you want us to attend to, kindly write to the Ministry of Environment office of Drainage Services, and ensure you write your contact details there because they are lots of letters that people submit which there is no way we can reach them.” she added

Tpl. Fashola the Zonal Head of Ikorodu North and Imota he also buttress the point of building houses on erosion, and the Hon. Commissioner has gave them the directive to visit the affected areas and all these houses are built on the land meant for drainage, all these are the causes of house collapse.

He also said “We have some people that bought just one plot of land which they are supposed to just built within the size of what they bought, but they will expand it on the space that is meant of drainage, we also have some sets of people that go through the backdoor policy to get approval from the Government in order to build their house, just know that in the nearest future the Government are coming to demolish it, let’s ensure we do everything in the right way and we should not acquire land that is meant for erosion.” He concluded

The CDC Chairman Prince Niran Ogunbanwo in his address “As the community leaders in Ikorodu North LCDA we’re trying our best in clearing drainages and canals in our jurisdiction and with the support of the Ministry of Environment, office of the drainage system we’ll achieve more”
