
To sustain the relative peace that Ikorodu has been enjoying from the activities of cultist recently, the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ikorodu West Branch and Nigeria Bar Association, Ikorodu has taken campaign to Majidun Community Area of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The team’s first point of call was Ipakodo Police Division. The team were received by CSP Mike Adeosun who is the DPO of the division. The team praised the force for the wonderful job it’s doing to sustain peace in the area and also condemn the ugly incident at Solomade Estate where the force was attacked. Mrs Fadahunsi who led the NBA team noted further that “the NBA and youths in Ikorodu are working to complement the efforts of the force through community awareness and sensitization on effect of cultism to residents and it has deem it fit to branch and say hello before proceeding to the respective places earn marked for engagement in the Majidun/Ogolonto community. While responding, the DPO commended the efforts of the NBA and the youth. He further noted that “the town hall security meeting held with the commissioner of police around late last year is accounting for the current peace Ikorodu is enjoying.


At Majidun Community Junior Grammer School, the team took the students through the core basics of why Cultism should be frowned at and likely punishment for Cultism as provided in the new Lagos State Anti-cultism law. The Councilor of Majidun Ogolonto (Ward B), enjoined the student that if they were to become someone important in life, they have to do away with things such as Cultism that will be an hindrance to their journey. “If you want to become Councilor, they will give you a DSS form, if you are a cultist, they will disqualify you, so, if you know you want to become like me, you have to run away from Cultism, Hon Batife said.
The Hon Super for Youth and Sport; Hon Okunade Adelani told the pupils that there is no way to success in life than to shun crime. He also urge the pupils to dismiss rumor that all the stars, politician and prominent people belong to one cult or the other, he noted that, it is far from the truth and should not be allowed to be used to deceive them into join any cult group.

At the Palace of the Baale of Ogolonto; Chief OYO Fatola, Comr Asoro Abubakri Olatunji (Co-ordinator, NYCN Ikorodu West) introduced the team to the Palace, he noted that the youth and NBA partnership has become pertinent to bring Cultism to end in Ikorodu. While speaking, the alternate Chairman of NBA Anti-cultism committee; Mr Sojinrin Esq noted that traditional rulers have a key role to play in the fight against crime because of their closeness to the people and in most cases they are the land owners. He noted that onus lies on the community to report any crime to law enforcement agencies and to ensure that their community do not become haven to criminals. While responding, the Baale ask for more partnership between the community and NBA, stating that, it will provide it an opportunity and quick root to get criminals behind the bar. He noted that his community will continue to engage residents especially in the danger of Cultism as it affects the new Cultism law of the state.
The Executive Chairman of the LCDA; Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju FCA, FCTI who addressed the team through a video call, commended the team for what he called “loudable initiative”, he noted that he would continue to ensure that mechanism put in place by his administration which accounted for the current peace in Ikorodu West is sustained.
The team also addressed the congregation at Majidun/Ogolonto Central Mosque, Mrs Fadahunsi Esq who is the Chairman of Anti-cultism Committee of NBA Ikorodu noted that religion play major role in peace and that accounted for the mosque visitation. She urge the congregant to say something when they see something.
