KIMBERLY-CLARK LAUNCHES WORTH OF 100 MILLION DOLLARS MANUFACTURING PLANT IN IKORODU ~Ajasa-Info

American company, Kimberly-Clark, which produces Huggies pampers has expanded operations in Nigeria with the opening of $100m plant in Ikorodu, Lagos.

For almost 150 years, Kimberly Clark has sought new and innovative ways to

Since 2012, they have been warmly integrated into the Nigerian community and the lives of the consumers. With the range of quality diapers and feminine hygiene and sanitary products, we are meeting essential needs, throughout life, for every Nigerian, so they are free to experience more of what
is important to them.

$100 million invested in Nigeria to date
1.65 million mothers reached via the Huggies hospital outreach program 6,000 direct and indirect jobs in 5 years 500,000 girls educated annually on mensural hygiene and period stigma eradication through our SheSABI Initiative in secondary schools.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised to construct the roads within the Odogunyan Industrial Estate in partnership with the Federal Government within the next one year, which the Minister of State for Finance Chief Clement Egba earlier raised the issue by contributing a fair share by the state Government and the Federal Government.

For them to partner with various hospitals and schools speaks about the importance of giving back and caring for the community they operate in.”

“Kimberly-Clark’s presence in Nigeria has generated 1000 direct and indirect jobs since inception and will generate an additional 6000 jobs in the next 3-4 years.”

“Companies like Kimberly-Clark should inspire many other companies to think about Nigeria as an investment centre. We are so proud of the work Kimberly-Clark is doing and will continue to support their operations in Nigeria.”

The Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo as the Special Guest of Honour, in his own remarks

“This plant, I am told would serve Nigerian consumers with affordable high-quality diapers and I am told it will produce something in the order of about 600 million diapers every year.

“I am also told that with our seven million babies born every year, we are just two million behind the Chinese, so we are really the largest possible market for diapers in the world, coming second only to the Chinese.

“So, I think Kimberly – Clark has chosen a very good place. We are told also that this will provide thousands of jobs and I believe that the first thousand are already in place and we expect a further couple of thousands in the next three years.”

The Vice President noted that for the federal government, “every new manufacturing plant is an important step toward our belief that it is private investment, but local and foreign that must be the pathway to rapid economic growth with jobs and prosperity.”

“And this commitment of the federal government is expressed in the strategic objectives of the plan which include establishing a strong foundation for a diversified economy, investing in critical infrastructure – roads, rails, power, and broadband; enabling human capital development and improving governance and strengthening security.”

He said further that the implementation of the plan is expected to be supported by a range of fiscal monitoring and trade measures including more intentionally promoting productivity and value addition.
